Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Financial Leadership<\/p>\n
\tLead all budgeting, forecasting, and short\/medium\/long-term financial planning.
\n\tEstablish and maintain strong financial controls and reporting systems including quarterly reports to the Board of Trustees.
\n\tPrepare for, attend and inform all Board and Board Committee meetings as the lead representative of the Senior Leadership Team.
\n\tManage cash flow, cost structures, and financial sustainability
\n\tProvide clear, timely financial insights to support leadership decisions
\n\tEnsure financial discipline across all functions
\n\tIdentify and manage risks to the school\u02bcs financial sustainability.<\/p>\n
Operations & School Infrastructure<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the school is fully registered with the Ministry of Education and meets all necessary requirements
\n\tOversee all day-to-day school operations, including facilities, transport, security, extra curricular vendors, and campus services – this includes from establishment to ongoing maintenance
\n\tEnsure the school environment is safe, functional, and consistently high-quality
\n\tAnticipate and resolve operational issues proactively
\n\tSupport infrastructure planning as the school grows<\/p>\n
Procurement & Vendor Management<\/p>\n
\tDesign and implement procurement systems and policies in tandem with the existing SHOFCO team
\n\tIdentify, negotiate, and manage suppliers and service providers
\n\tEnsure strong cost control, transparency, and value for money
\n\tOversee asset and inventory management<\/p>\n
Human Resources (Non-Academic)<\/p>\n
\tRecruit, manage, and develop administrative and support staff including performance expectations
\n\tOversee contracts, payroll, and HR compliance, in tandem with existing SHOFCO team
\n\tBuild a culture of accountability and professionalism across support functions<\/p>\n
Compliance, Risk & Governance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure full compliance with Kenyan regulatory requirements and school standards
\n\tLead health, safety, and risk management systems
\n\tManage audits, insurance, and statutory obligations
\n\tMaintain strong governance and reporting practices<\/p>\n
Systems Building & Institutional Development<\/p>\n
\tDesign and implement core systems across finance, HR, procurement, and operations, in partnership with existing SHOFCO team
\n\tDevelop policies, processes, and tools required for a high-functioning school
\n\tBuild structures that will scale as the school grows
\n\tTranslate leadership priorities into operational execution<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDirectly manage a small but growing operations team (2\u20135 associates initially)
\n\tBuild team capacity and structure as the school expands
\n\tEnsure strong performance, accountability, and clarity across all roles<\/p>\n
Candidate Profile<\/p>\n
Required Experience<\/p>\n
\t5\u201310+ years in operations, finance, or general management roles
\n\tPrior experience in a top private or international school in Kenya is required
\n\tPrior experience in launching a new school is strongly preferred
\n\tDemonstrated experience building systems, processes, and teams\u2014not just managing them
\n\tExperience operating in complex, multi-function environments (finance, HR, operations, procurement)
\n\tStrong familiarity with Kenyan regulatory, vendor, and operational contexts<\/p>\n
