Role Objective<\/p>\n
\tA boutique law firm based in Mombasa with a presence in litigation in the industry is seeking a motivated experienced associate\u00a0to join their firm in Nairobi.<\/p>\n
Core Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tPreparing and filing legal pleadings and documents with the appropriate court or tribunal
\n\tRegularly updating clients on the status of their cases in a simple manner by breaking down the legal terminologies.
\n\tCollaborating with advocates and colleagues in various high value litigation cases in order to achieve success.
\n\tConducting research on relevant laws, regulations, precedents, and case law to build on each case assigned to you
\n\tEngaging, Draft and review settlement agreements to ensure that the client\u2019s interests are protected through a favorable resolution
\n\tRepresenting clients in legal matters such as hearings, motions, and trial proceedings.
\n\tMeeting with clients to understand, interviewing them on their legal issues, needs objectives, and provide advice accordingly.\u00a0
\n\tProviding legal and technical advice including drafting legal opinions.
\n\tUndertaking due diligence on litigation matters.
\n\tDrafting and reviewing various legal documents
\n\tManaging deadlines and court schedules effectively, ensuring timely filings and appearances.
\n\tConducting cross-examination.
\n\tCorresponding and negotiating with opposing counsel to resolve disputes favorably.
\n\tEnsuring that invoicing, collection of payable fees and timely payments are made.
\n\tBuilding positive and maintaining good relationships with clients and potential clients.
\n\tParticipation and contributing to the growth of litigation department goals and objectives.
\n\tAny other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 Job Specifications and Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tOne (1) year Post admission experience in a busy law firm.
\n\tAn upper 2nd Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
\n\tA valid practicing certificate.<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Key\u00a0Competencies<\/p>\n
\tBe a person of unquestionable integrity with a high sense of professionalism.
\n\tExcellent Communication Skills
\n\tResult Oriented and self-motivated
