We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Internal Legal Support Officer to provide legal and administrative support across the organization. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring compliance, managing legal documentation, and supporting internal stakeholders on legal-related matters.
\nKey Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tManage the end-to-end contract lifecycle-including drafting, negotiation, and repository tracking-while coordinating with external counsel on high complexity commercial and loan agreements.
\n\tMonitor and ensure compliance with Kenyan banking laws and CBK regulations, managing the regulatory register, inspections, and external interpretations of legal requirements.
\n\tDirect corporate governance and statutory secretarial duties, covering the maintenance of statutory registers, Registrar of Companies filings, and the preparation of Board meeting materials.
\n\tOversee all legal proceedings and dispute resolution, including debt recovery and customer claims, while managing external counsel performance, budgets, and court timelines.
\n\tAdvise on Kenyan labor law compliance, providing legal guidance on employment contracts, disciplinary matters, and organizational restructuring or layoffs.
\n\tMitigate operational and ethical risks by advising on related party transactions, potential conflicts of interest, and the legal safety of marketing and communication materials.
\n\tProtect the company’s intellectual property portfolio through the management of trademarks, brand registrations, and enforcement strategies.
\n\tExecute legal due diligence and provide strategic advisory support for M&A activities and high-stakes partnership negotiations.<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Skills<\/p>\n
\tBachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or related field
\n\tAt least 3 years of relevant experience in a legal or compliance role
\n\tStrong understanding of corporate and commercial law
\n\tExcellent drafting and communication skills
\n\tHigh attention to detail and confidentiality
\n\tAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines<\/p>\n
