You will be responsible for building and leading a world-class HR function that supports Natural State&#8217;s ambitious mission across diverse international landscapes. This is a strategic, hands-on role requiring equal expertise in developing global frameworks and managing complex, localised HR operations from U.S. and African employment contracts to fostering leadership development in remote field locations. You will translate our conservation mission into people practices that attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Strategic HR Leadership &amp; Global Framework:<\/p>\n<p>\tDevelop and execute a comprehensive global HR strategy aligned with Natural State&#8217;s 3-year strategic plan and mission<br \/>\n\tDesign and implement standardised, yet locally adaptable, HR policies, processes, and systems (HRIS) across all entities (Kenya, U.S., South Africa, and future locations).<br \/>\n\tEstablish and monitor key global HR metrics and analytics to drive data-informed decision-making on talent, engagement, and organisational health.<br \/>\n\tLead global HR projects, including HRIS implementation, compensation benchmarking, and talent management framework development.<\/p>\n<p>Talent Acquisition, Management &amp; Development:<\/p>\n<p>\tDesign and oversee a global talent acquisition strategy to attract diverse, high-caliber professionals in conservation, technology, finance, and field operations.<br \/>\n\tDrive the development and implementation of a global performance management system, succession planning, and leadership development programs.<br \/>\n\tCreate and manage career pathing and professional development initiatives that support staff growth across technical and managerial tracks.<br \/>\n\tFoster a strong talent pipeline and internal mobility to support organisational scaling.<\/p>\n<p>Global Compliance, Contracts &amp; Employee Relations:<\/p>\n<p>\tMandatory Expertise: Serve as the ultimate internal authority on employment law and contract management across key jurisdictions: United States (Federal &amp; State), Kenya, and South Africa. This includes the independent review, drafting, and standardisation of all employment, consulting, and service provider contracts.<br \/>\n\tEnsure 100% compliance with all local labor laws, regulations (including 501(c)(3) rules, data protection\/GDPR), and best practices in every country of operation.<br \/>\n\tDevelop and manage a robust global employee relations framework, providing direct guidance and support to management on complex issues, dispute resolution, and disciplinary processes.<br \/>\n\tIdentify, assess, and mitigate HR-related risks across the global portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Mandatory Expertise: Compensation &amp; Rewards; Culture &amp; Engagement:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tBuild, mentor, and lead a high-performing global HR team, comprising country HR managers, generalists, and coordinators.<br \/>\n\tServe as a trusted strategic advisor to the Vice President, Senior Management Team, and Board of Directors on all people-related matters.<br \/>\n\tPartner closely with global department heads (Finance, Programs, Technology) to understand their goals and provide integrated HR solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications &amp; Experience<\/p>\n<p>Must Have:<\/p>\n<p>\tMaster&#8217;s degree\u00a0in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field<br \/>\n\tMinimum 10\u201315 years\u00a0of progressive HR leadership experience<br \/>\n\tAt least 5 years\u00a0in a direct global or regional HR leadership role overseeing multiple countries<br \/>\n\tMandatory legal\/contracts expertise:\u00a0Proven, hands-on experience independently reviewing, drafting, and managing employment and consulting contracts under\u00a0U.S. (Federal\/State), Kenyan, and South African\u00a0legal frameworks<br \/>\n\tGlobal compliance knowledge:\u00a0In-depth, practical knowledge of employment laws, regulatory compliance, and labor practices in the U.S., East Africa, and Southern Africa<br \/>\n\tStrategic systems skills:\u00a0Proven experience in selecting, implementing, and leveraging a global HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and HR analytics<br \/>\n\tLeadership &amp; communication:\u00a0Exceptional leadership, influence, and communication skills with ability to operate at board, executive, and field staff levels across cultures<\/p>\n<p>Strong to Have:<\/p>\n<p>\tExperience designing and implementing\u00a0succession planning and leadership development programs<br \/>\n\tExperience creating\u00a0career pathing frameworks\u00a0across technical and managerial tracks<br \/>\n\tTrack record of establishing\u00a0global HR metrics and analytics dashboards\u00a0for data-informed decision-making<br \/>\n\tExperience managing HR for\u00a0501(c)(3) organisations\u00a0including understanding of related compliance rules<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of\u00a0data protection\/GDPR\u00a0requirements as they apply to global HR data<\/p>\n<p>Nice to Have:<\/p>\n<p>\tNon-profit or mission-driven organization experience\u00a0(highly preferred in the advert)<br \/>\n\tExperience scaling HR functions\u00a0in a high-growth international organization<br \/>\n\tInternational professional HR certification\u00a0(e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR)<br \/>\n\tExperience working in conservation, climate action, international development, or related fields<br \/>\n\tProven experience managing employee relations\u00a0including dispute resolution, disciplinary processes, and complex cross-cultural employee issues<br \/>\n\tDemonstrated success in global talent acquisition\u00a0for diverse roles (conservation, technology, finance, and field operations)<\/p>\n<p>go to method of application \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Use the link(s) below to apply on company website. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Apply Through:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_promoted":"","_job_location":"","_application":"","_company_name":"Natural State","_company_website":"http:\/\/N%20\/%20A","_company_tagline":"Through large-scale restoration and rewilding, NATURAL STATE secures biodiversity, sequesters and stores carbon, and helps achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
