Role Description<\/p>\n
The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing systems to track project performance, ensure accountability to donors, and support data-driven decision-making. The role requires strong technical expertise in donor-funded project monitoring, financial tracking, statistical analysis, data visualization (Power BI), and high-quality donor reporting.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tMonitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Systems<\/p>\n
\t\tDevelop and implement M&E frameworks, logframes, and performance indicators aligned with project objectives
\n\t\tDesign data collection tools, methodologies, and systems
\n\t\tTrack project progress against targets, outputs, and outcomes
\n\t\tEnsure alignment with Results-Based Management (RBM) principles
\n\t\tSupport baseline, midline, and endline evaluations<\/p>\n
\tDonor-Funded Project Monitoring & Compliance<\/p>\n
\t\tMonitor project activities in line with donor requirements and contractual obligations
\n\t\tEnsure compliance with reporting standards for donors (e.g., USAID, World Bank, FCDO, UN agencies)
\n\t\tTrack deliverables, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
\n\t\tSupport donor audits, evaluations, and learning reviews
\n\t\tMaintain proper documentation for accountability and transparency<\/p>\n
\tFinancial Tracking & Budget Monitoring<\/p>\n
\t\tMonitor project budgets in collaboration with finance teams
\n\t\tTrack expenditure against planned budgets and analyze variances
\n\t\tAssess burn rates and cost efficiency of program activities
\n\t\tLink financial data to program outputs for value-for-money analysis
\n\t\tSupport financial reporting inputs for donor reports<\/p>\n
\tData Management, Analysis & Statistics<\/p>\n
\t\tDesign surveys, sampling approaches, and data collection methodologies
\n\t\tOversee data collection processes (field and digital tools such as KoboToolbox\/ODK)
\n\t\tClean, validate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data
\n\t\tApply statistical techniques to generate insights and measure impact
\n\t\tMaintain databases and ensure data quality, integrity, and security<\/p>\n
\tData Visualization & Reporting<\/p>\n
\t\tDevelop and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI
\n\t\tIntegrate multiple data sources into real-time reporting systems
\n\t\tPresent complex data in clear, user-friendly visual formats
\n\t\tSupport program teams with data insights for decision-making<\/p>\n
\tDonor Reporting & Technical Writing<\/p>\n
\t\tPrepare high-quality donor reports (monthly, quarterly, annual)
\n\t\tDevelop clear narratives linking activities, outputs, and outcomes
\n\t\tProduce case studies, success stories, and learning briefs
\n\t\tEnsure all reports meet donor formats, guidelines, and deadlines
\n\t\tTranslate technical findings into clear, concise communication<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, or related field (Master\u2019s is an added advantage)
\n\tMinimum 3\u20135 years\u2019 experience in M&E, preferably in donor-funded programs
\n\tAdvanced Excel (pivot tables, dashboards, data analysis)
\n\tProficiency in data visualisation tools like Power BI for dashboard development and visualization
\n\tExperience with data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK)
\n\tKnowledge of statistical software (SPSS, STATA, or R)
\n\tExcellent written and verbal communication skills (especially donor reporting)
\n\tHigh attention to detail and accuracy
\n\tAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks<\/p>\n
