Architect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Description<\/p>\n<p>WORK LOCATION: Nairobi, Kenya (U.S. Embassy)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PROJECT DURATION: 36 MONTHS WITH EXPECTED FOLLOW-ON WORK WITHIN THE DoS PROGRAM<\/p>\n<p>\tFunctioning as the Mechanical Engineer, providing Nairobi with a full range of critical engineering and construction quality assurance and the management and technical oversight of the Nairobi CAA project<br \/>\n\tPerforming technical inspections of mechanical work, monitoring the contractor&#8217;s quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance<br \/>\n\tSupporting and assisting Nairobi in ensuring the completion of the Nairobi CAA in accordance with applicable US codes and standard building practices<br \/>\n\tEnsuring that the contractor is performing the required contract work in accordance with the design documents<br \/>\n\tReviewing engineering shop drawings and determining if the contractor has complied with the final design parameters<br \/>\n\tObserving onsite construction and determining if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly\u00a0<br \/>\n\tPerforming quality assurance tasks, ensuring contractor&#8217;s work is properly inspected and corrective actions take place, ensuring materials meet contract, reviewing contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements, and resolving conflicts<br \/>\n\tMonitoring construction progress vis-\u00e0-vis the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on the technical review of project documents and field inspections<br \/>\n\tPerforming technical inspections of the mechanical elements of the project<br \/>\n\tInterpreting drawings in his\/her discipline and have a basic understanding of the principles of his\/her engineering discipline and how it fits in with other engineering disciplines<br \/>\n\tReviewing shop drawings and submittals from the contractor and determining if coordination with other disciplines is necessary, in addition to monitoring on-going construction work to identify problems or non-compliance with design or contract specifications<br \/>\n\tPreparing construction reports detailing construction progress and identifying any problem with the construction process related to the incumbent\u2019s area of expertise<br \/>\n\tEvaluating contractor\u2019s proposed remedy after problems are discovered and formulating solutions for the Project Director\/Construction Manager<br \/>\n\tReviewing design documents (drawings and specifications) that the A\/E prepares as well as perform quality assurance for the construction project in his\/her technical area of expertise\u00a0<br \/>\n\tDeveloping a working knowledge of all technical requirements of project\u00a0<br \/>\n\tProviding Quality Assurance for ongoing construction project<br \/>\n\tReviewing contractor submittals<br \/>\n\tPreparing responses to Requests for Information (RFI)<br \/>\n\tEvaluating proposed submittal substitutions with engineering implications and making recommendations to the Project Director<br \/>\n\tCoordinating the development of Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) for modifications and change orders<br \/>\n\tReviewing and evaluating design calculations and data from an engineering perspective<br \/>\n\tPreparing Monthly Progress Report summarizing project status, with emphasis on engineering<br \/>\n\tPerforming other duties as assigned by the Project Director\/COR<\/p>\n<p>FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON AWARD<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<\/p>\n<p>\t\u00a0A bachelor\u2019s degree (or above) in mechanical engineering from an accredited program and a minimum of seven years of experience required on construction projects of similar scope and value to the project supported by this Task Order<\/p>\n<p>\t\tDesign office experience shall not count toward an employee\u2019s experience<br \/>\n\t\tA Professional Engineering License (PE) is acceptable in lieu of a degree<br \/>\n\t\tOverseas experience is preferred\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\tMust have Final Secret, interim Top Secret (TS), or Final TS security clearance issued by Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) at the time of consideration<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of International Codes required<br \/>\n\tKnowledge of Microsoft Suite, i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required<br \/>\n\tAbility to read design\/construction drawings and be able to understand design narratives and calculations<br
