About the Role<\/p>\n
\tWe are looking for a hardworking and self-motivated steward to join our team at Sawari hospitality Solutions. Upon onboarding, you will undergo foundational training to further prepare you for contract jobs in restaurants, hotels and catering companies across Nairobi.
\n\tTo be successful in this role, you require sharp organizational and communication skills; competency to work independently with minimal supervision; outstanding work efficiency and an ability to function as a supportive team player.
\n\tUpon demonstrated job performance excellence, kitchen stewards will be considered for numerous growth opportunities within their desired field of interest.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organized at all times.
\n\tEnsure floors are clean and dry at all times.
\n\tAdhere to all sanitation and safety guidelines.
\n\tDispose of waste as per the hotel and authority standards, and adhere to recycling guidelines.
\n\tCarry out general cleaning as directed; this includes sweeping, mopping up, washing up, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers.
\n\tEnsure waste bin areas are kept clean and tidy.
\n\tOperate pot-washing machinery and maintain a hygienic working environment in accordance with hygiene regulations and company standards.
\n\tClean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures.
\n\tClean and sanitize dishes and related service ware following established procedures.
\n\tCleans large equipment as assigned, following established procedures.
\n\tClean and maintain floors and walls in the kitchen and dish washing area as per the standard procedures.
\n\tWash, wipe, sort, stack dishes, and load \/ unload the dishwasher.
\n\tWash, wipe, sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organized and safe manner.
\n\tRemove any broken or chipped service items from circulation and update the breakage and inventory register.
\n\tConsistently adhere to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) related to the proper and safe use of chemicals in the workplace.
\n\tCheck all chemical levels and inventory.
\n\tClean, sanitize and close workstations.
\n\tEnsure all equipment is clean and in good working order.
\n\tUse and maintain all equipment according to manufacturer and department guidelines.
\n\tReport any maintenance or hazard issues to the chief steward \/ stewarding manager.
\n\tAssist in light food preparation as directed by the manager or chef on duty.
\n\tAssist in serving food and beverages to guests in the dining room as directed by the manager or chef on duty.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tAt least 1-year of working experience as a kitchen steward with a high school diploma or a certificate in food preparation, nutrition or sanitation and food safety.
\n\tPreferably have knowledge and proficiency to operate industrial dish washers.
\n\tExceptional problem-solving, communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
\n\tWillingness to work during peak hospitality hours; this includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
\n\tGood verbal and written communication skills.
\n\tStrong ethics, integrity and dependability.
\n\tAn ability to work independently, belief in a strong team culture, and a desire to blaze the trail for high performance<\/p>\n
