About the role<\/p>\n
\tThe Global Head of EHS and Security is responsible for developing and leading the company\u2019s global Environment, Health, Safety, and Security strategy across all Burn manufacturing facilities across Africa. This role ensures regulatory compliance, drives a strong safety culture, mitigates operational and environmental risks, and establishes robust security standards to protect employees, assets, facilities, and supply chains across all regions.
\n\tThe position oversees regional EHS managers and security leads, ensuring consistent implementation of corporate EHSS standards across offices and manufacturing plants, including laser cutting, stamping, deep drawing, welding, powder coating, manual assembly operations, warehousing, utilities, and fleet operations.<\/p>\n
Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Global EHSS Strategy & Governance<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and deploy a unified global EHSS strategy aligned with BURN\u2019s objectives.
\n\tEstablish standardized EHSS policies, SOPs, procedures, and reporting frameworks across all countries.
\n\tEnsure compliance with ISO standards, local regulatory standards, and relevant environmental, safety, and security best practices.
\n\tAct as the corporate authority on environmental, occupational health, safety, and security matters.<\/p>\n
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with global and local occupational safety, environmental, and industrial regulations across all sites.
\n\tLead global risk assessments for high-risk operations including.
\n\tOversee environmental permits, waste management, emissions monitoring, and hazardous material compliance.
\n\tDevelop fleet safety standards, including driver training and accident investigation.<\/p>\n
Safety Culture & Behavioral Leadership<\/p>\n
\tDrive a zero-harm culture globally.
\n\tDevelop behavioral safety programs and accountability frameworks.
\n\tStandardize safety training, induction programs, and toolbox talks across all sites.
\n\tPromote proactive hazard reporting and near-miss tracking.<\/p>\n
Incident Management & Investigation<\/p>\n
\tEstablish global standards for incident reporting and escalation.
\n\tLead investigations into serious incidents and high-potential events.
\n\tEnsure structured root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
\n\tDevelop and monitor related KPIs.<\/p>\n
Global Security Management<\/p>\n
\tThe Global Head of EHSS is responsible for establishing and overseeing a comprehensive global security framework to safeguard people, assets, facilities, and supply chains.
\n\tDevelop and standardize physical security, perimeter protection, CCTV systems, access control systems, visitor management, and guard force management policies across all sites.
\n\tImplement controls to prevent theft, and asset loss.
\n\tOversee investigation and lead response of internal and external security incidents.
\n\tDevelop warehouses dispatch and receiving security protocols.
\n\tImplement container sealing, yard control, and logistics risk mitigation processes in collaboration with the respective departments.
\n\tMonitor high-risk transport routes, regions, and events, and provide Security Assessment.
\n\tConduct country-specific security risk assessments, and security audits.
\n\tEstablish site emergency response coordination (fire, unrest, natural disasters, security breaches).
\n\tAssess, onboard, audit, and oversee security service providers across all regions.
\n\tStandardize guard training requirements and SLAs.<\/p>\n
Emergency Preparedness & Crisis Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure drills are conducted regularly.
\n\tCoordinate corporate response to critical incidents.<\/p>\n
Leadership & Global Team Management<\/p>\n
\tLead regional EHSS managers and security leads.
\n\tDrive alignment between Operations, HR, Facilities, and Risk teams.
\n\tProvide executive-level EHSS reporting to leadership and board.<\/p>\n
Skills and Experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related field.
\n\tBachelor\u2019s degree in environmental engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Security Management, or related field.
\n\t12+ years of progressive EHSS experience in industrial manufacturing.
\n\tMulti-country management experience required.
\n\tProfessional certifications preferred (NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor, CSP, CPP for security, etc.).
\n\tStrong experience in heavy industrial environments.
\n\tStrong leadership and people management skills.
\n\tAbility to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
\n\tStrong communication skills, both written and verbal.
\n\tRegulatory expertise and compliance orientation.
\n\tStrong crisis management capability.
\n\tSecurity risk assessment proficiency.
\n\tData-driven, dynamic, and agile mindset.
