Job Summary<\/p>\n
\tWe are seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist to support the successful migration of data from legacy banking systems to a modern Core Banking System (CBS) such as Temenos T24, Finacle, or Oracle FLEXCUBE.
\n\tThe role is responsible for end-to-end data migration activities including data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and migration execution, ensuring full data integrity, regulatory compliance, and minimal business disruption during go-live.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities
\nCBS Data Migration Strategy & Planning<\/p>\n
\tDefine and implement the data migration strategy aligned with CBS implementation timelines
\n\tIdentify all banking data domains, including:
\n\tCustomer Information (CIF)
\n\tAccounts (CASA, Loans, Fixed Deposits)
\n\tTransactions
\n\tCollateral & Securities
\n\tGeneral Ledger (GL)
\n\tDevelop\u00a0migration plans, cutover strategies, and rollback procedures
\n\tParticipate in\u00a0cutover planning and dress rehearsals<\/p>\n
Data Mapping & Functional Alignment<\/p>\n
\tDevelop detailed\u00a0source-to-target data mapping documents\u00a0for CBS
\n\tTranslate banking product configurations into migration logic
\n\tAlign legacy system structures with CBS data models (e.g., CIF, account hierarchies)
\n\tWork closely with Business Analysts and product teams to validate mapping rules<\/p>\n
Data Extraction, Cleansing & Transformation (ETL)<\/p>\n
\tExtract data from legacy banking systems and databases
\n\tPerform\u00a0data cleansing, including:
\n\tDuplicate removal (e.g., duplicate CIFs)
\n\tData standardization (names, IDs, formats)
\n\tHandling missing or inconsistent records
\n\tDevelop ETL processes using tools such as Informatica PowerCenter, Talend, or Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
\n\tEnsure correct transformation of:
\n\tInterest calculations
\n\tAccount balances
\n\tTransaction histories<\/p>\n
Data Validation, Reconciliation & Control<\/p>\n
\tPerform\u00a0pre- and post-migration data validation
\n\tReconcile:
\n\tCustomer records (CIF counts and accuracy)
\n\tAccount balances (trial balance vs GL)
\n\tTransaction totals and histories
\n\tEnsure\u00a0financial integrity\u00a0(no data loss or duplication)
\n\tProduce reconciliation reports for audit and sign-off<\/p>\n
Migration Testing & Mock Runs<\/p>\n
\tExecute multiple\u00a0mock migrations \/ trial runs
\n\tSupport:
\n\tSystem Integration Testing (SIT)
\n\tUser Acceptance Testing (UAT)
\n\tIdentify and resolve data defects and inconsistencies
\n\tOptimize migration scripts for performance and accuracy<\/p>\n
Cutover Execution & Go-Live Support<\/p>\n
\tExecute final\u00a0production data migration\u00a0during cutover window
\n\tMonitor migration progress and resolve real-time issues
\n\tSupport business teams during\u00a0go-live and stabilization phase
\n\tEnsure minimal downtime and seamless transition<\/p>\n
Data Governance, Compliance & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with banking regulations and internal policies
\n\tMaintain\u00a0data audit trails and migration logs
\n\tSupport audit and regulatory reporting requirements
\n\tEnsure secure handling of sensitive customer and financial data<\/p>\n
Stakeholder Collaboration<\/p>\n
\tWork closely with:
\n\tCore Banking Implementation Partners
\n\tBusiness Users (Operations, Finance, Risk)
\n\tQA and Testing Teams
\n\tFacilitate data validation workshops and sign-offs
\n\tProvide regular updates on migration progress, risks, and issues<\/p>\n
Key Requirements
\nEducation<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field<\/p>\n
Experience<\/p>\n
\t4\u20138+ years of experience in\u00a0data migration within banking or financial services
\n\tHands-on experience in at least one CBS implementation (T24, Finacle, Flexcube, etc.)
\n\tProven experience handling\u00a0large-scale financial data migrations<\/p>\n
Technical Skills<\/p>\n
\tAdvanced SQL and database skills (e.g., Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server)
\n\tStrong ETL and data transformation experience
\n\tUnderstanding of\u00a0banking data structures and products\u00a0(CIF, loans, deposits, GL)
\n\tExperience with data reconciliation and financial balancing
\n\tFamiliarity with scripting (Python, Shell) is an added advantage<\/p>\n
Functional \/ Domain Knowledge<\/p>\n
\tStrong understanding of:
\n\tCore banking operations
\n\tRetail and corporate banking products
\n\tFinancial accounting and GL structures
\n\tKnowledge of regulatory requirements in banking environments<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tExperience in African banking environments (e.g., Kenya, East Africa)
\n\tPrior experience in CBS vendors like\u00a0Temenos, Finacle, or Oracle
\n\tCertification in data management, ETL tools, or banking systems
\n\tExposure to cloud-based CBS migrations<\/p>\n
