Role Overview<\/p>\n
The Head of Treasury will own the end-to-end treasury function across all markets, ensuring optimal liquidity, capital efficiency, FX execution, and settlement integrity across the multi-country payment infrastructure.<\/p>\n
This is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for designing and running the treasury architecture that enables the business to scale across markets. The role goes beyond cash management \u2014 it includes liquidity strategy, FX execution (including OTC), banking infrastructure, and capital optimization.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate has deep experience in fintech, payments, or banking treasury environments, with strong exposure to multi-currency, multi-market liquidity systems and high-volume transactional flows.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Treasury Strategy & Capital Efficiency<\/p>\n
\tDefine and own overall treasury strategy across all markets
\n\tOptimize capital allocation, liquidity efficiency, and float utilization
\n\tEnsure efficient deployment of funds across wallets, banks, and partner rails
\n\tDrive improvements in cash velocity and working capital efficiency
\n\tProvide strategic input on business expansion from a liquidity perspective<\/p>\n
\u00a0Liquidity & Float Management<\/p>\n
\tOwn real-time liquidity positioning across all currencies and markets
\n\tDesign systems to ensure continuous liquidity availability across rails
\n\tForecast liquidity requirements based on transaction volume and growth projections
\n\tMinimize idle cash while ensuring operational settlement readiness
\n\tBuild dashboards for real-time liquidity visibility and decision-making<\/p>\n
Treasury Operations & Settlements<\/p>\n
\tOwn all cross-border and domestic settlement flows
\n\tEnsure accurate, timely, and controlled disbursements and reconciliations
\n\tDesign scalable settlement architecture across banks, PSPs, and mobile money operators
\n\tReduce settlement failures through process design and operational controls
\n\tEnsure strong auditability and reconciliation integrity across all flows<\/p>\n
FX, OTC & Liquidity Markets<\/p>\n
\tOwn FX strategy across all markets and currencies
\n\tEstablish and manage an internal OTC desk for liquidity and currency conversion
\n\tIdentify, onboard, and negotiate FX providers and liquidity partners
\n\tExecute and optimize buy\/sell flows for fiat and stable coins where applicable
\n\tManage FX exposure and implement hedging strategies
\n\tOptimize spread capture and FX execution efficiency<\/p>\n
Banking, PSP & Partner Infrastructure<\/p>\n
\tOwn relationships with banks, PSPs, mobile money operators, and settlement partners
\n\tNegotiate float terms, fees, settlement cycles, and liquidity arrangements
\n\tDesign and optimize multi-partner treasury infrastructure
\n\tSupport onboarding of new financial partners from a treasury readiness perspective<\/p>\n
Forecasting & Treasury Intelligence<\/p>\n
\tBuild short, medium, and long-term cash flow forecasts
\n\tAlign treasury forecasts with business growth and transaction dynamics
\n\tProvide actionable insights on liquidity and capital planning
\n\tTrack cash efficiency, FX performance, and settlement health<\/p>\n
Controls, Risk & Governance<\/p>\n
\tEstablish treasury controls, policies, and governance frameworks
\n\tEnsure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements
\n\tMaintain audit-ready documentation
\n\tEmbed strong controls across FX, settlements, and liquidity management<\/p>\n
Systems & Automation<\/p>\n
\tDrive automation of reconciliations, liquidity tracking, and reporting
\n\tPartner with engineering to build real-time treasury systems
\n\tEnsure data integrity and scalability of treasury platforms
\n\tImplement dashboards for executive decision-making<\/p>\n
Leadership Scope<\/p>\n
\tBuild and lead the treasury function as the company scales
\n\tDefine structure, processes, and eventually hire and manage a team
\n\tAct as the primary treasury authority across all markets<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\t7\u201312+ years experience in treasury, FX, liquidity, or banking operations
\n\tStrong background in fintech, payments, banking, or financial infrastructure
\n\tExperience managing multi-currency and multi-market treasury operations
\n\tDeep understanding of:<\/p>\n
\t\tLiquidity management
\n\t\tFX markets and execution
\n\t\tPayment settlement systems
\n\t\tBanking and PSP infrastructure<\/p>\n
\tExperience building or scaling treasury systems in high-volume environments
\n\tStrong analytical and financial modelling skills
\n\tExperience in African or emerging markets preferred<\/p>\n
Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tExperience running or participating in an OTC or FX trading function
\n\tExposure to stable coin or digital asset liquidity management
\n\tExperience in high-growth fintech or cross-border payments companies
\n\tStrong automation or systems mindset (treasury tech stacks, APIs, dashboards)<\/p>\n
