What will you do:<\/p>\n
\tThe Head of the Inter\u2011Agency Working Group (IAWG) provides strategic leadership and representation for a regional, member\u2011led platform of international NGOs operating across East and Central Africa.
\n\tThe role exists to strengthen collective NGO leadership, coordination, and influence in humanitarian and protracted crisis contexts, ensuring that NGO perspectives shape regional humanitarian priorities, policies, partnerships, and resource decisions.
\n\tThe postholder serves as the primary convenor, strategist, and external representative of the IAWG at regional and global levels.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Strategic Leadership<\/p>\n
\tSet and drive the strategic direction of the IAWG in line with its Charter and multi\u2011year strategy.
\n\tLead strategic reviews and future planning, ensuring relevance to evolving humanitarian, political, climate, and security dynamics.
\n\tProvide regular high\u2011level reporting and advice to the IAWG Steering Committee.<\/p>\n
Collective NGO Coordination<\/p>\n
\tConvene and facilitate senior\u2011level coordination among NGO Regional Directors.
\n\tEnable coherence, complementarity, and shared positioning across member organisations.
\n\tOversee the effective functioning of IAWG working groups and collective initiatives.<\/p>\n
Advocacy and Policy Influence<\/p>\n
\tPosition the IAWG as a credible, authoritative regional NGO voice on humanitarian priorities.
\n\tLead the development and articulation of common policy positions, messages, and advocacy priorities.
\n\tRepresent agreed NGO positions in regional and global policy and decision\u2011making forums.<\/p>\n
External Representation and Partnerships<\/p>\n
\tAct as the primary representative of the IAWG with UN agencies, regional institutions, donors, and humanitarian partners.
\n\tBuild and sustain strategic relationships that advance collective NGO objectives and humanitarian outcomes.
\n\tStrengthen alignment and collaboration with country\u2011level NGO fora and global NGO platforms.<\/p>\n
Institutional Sustainability and Governance<\/p>\n
\tEnsure the financial sustainability and institutional credibility of the IAWG.
\n\tLead resource mobilization for core operations, analysis, and advocacy capacity.
\n\tSupport sound governance, transparency, and accountability to IAWG members.<\/p>\n
Secretariat Oversight<\/p>\n
\tEnsure effective delivery, performance management, and compliance with host agency systems.<\/p>\n

Experience and expertise<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 10 years of progressive international experience in humanitarian and\/or development contexts, including regional\u2011level roles.
\n\tProven leadership in multi-agency coordination, coalition building, or network governance\u00a0
\n\tStrong understanding of humanitarian operations, NGO systems, and crisis dynamics in East and Central Africa.
\n\tProven experience in advocacy, policy engagement, and strategic communications.<\/p>\n
