Role objectives<\/p>\n
Pricing Strategy & Bid Leadership<\/p>\n
\tLead pricing strategy and execution across priority bids and proposals (UN, FCDO, and other institutional clients)
\n\tDevelop, review, and rigorously challenge cost and pricing models to ensure accuracy, competitiveness, and compliance
\n\tEnsure all proposals align with margin targets and commercial strategy<\/p>\n
Proposal Budget Development & Costing Execution<\/p>\n
\tLead the end\u2011to\u2011end development of detailed budgets for competitive proposals to bilateral and multilateral donors (including FCDO, UN agencies, GIZ and similar institutions)
\n\tOwn the hands\u2011on costing process, gathering, validating, and structuring all cost components required for compliant and competitive proposals.
\n\tSource cost inputs through close collaboration with CTG country teams, internal finance colleagues, and structured online research where local data is unavailable
\n\tNegotiate rates with key personnel and consultants to ensure value for money while protecting commercial margins
\n\tDraft the commercial and financial narrative for bids, clearly articulating costing assumptions, pricing logic, exclusions, dependencies, and key financial risks<\/p>\n
Commercial Strategy & Structuring<\/p>\n
\tAdvise bid and delivery teams on commercial models, contract structures, and risk-sharing mechanisms
\n\tProvide guidance on pricing levers, commercial risk, and contractual terms throughout the bid lifecycle
\n\tEnsure all bids comply with internal governance and financial controls
\n\tWork closely with the Finance Department to validate assumptions, cost bases, and methodologies<\/p>\n
Financial Analysis & Planning<\/p>\n
\tSupport budgeting processes through pipeline-driven forecasting, cost analysis, and pricing inputs
\n\tContribute to long-term financial planning and strategy, including revenue projections, margin optimization, and portfolio performance analysis
\n\tDevelop and maintain financial models for scenario planning, investment decisions, and strategic growth initiatives
\n\tProvide data-driven insights to support sustainable pricing and overall business performance<\/p>\n
Commercial Governance & Quality Assurance<\/p>\n
\tMaintain and improve pricing tools, rate cards, financial risk registers, and approval workflows
\n\tEnsure budgets are auditable, well\u2011justified, and defensible in donor clarifications and negotiations
\n\tProvide oversight and quality assurance across all pricing activity
\n\tReview the commercial performance and profitability of existing contracts, identifying margin leakage, cost variance, and optimization opportunities
\n\tEstablish and maintain regional and global benchmarks for consultant and personnel rates, drawing on live contract data, market intelligence, and historical bid performance
\n\tAct as a point of escalation for complex commercial and pricing risks
\n\tCoach and support internal teams to ensure consistency and best practice<\/p>\n
Commercial Insights & Performance<\/p>\n
\tLead win\/loss analysis to identify trends and improvement opportunities
\n\tMonitor and report on margin performance and pricing trends across the portfolio
\n\tTranslate data into actionable insights to inform business development and diversification strategy<\/p>\n
Capability Building & Best Practice<\/p>\n
\tDevelop and standardize pricing templates, models, and guidance
\n\tEmbed strong commercial discipline across Business Development and delivery teams
\n\tBuild internal capability through training, coaching, and continuous improvement<\/p>\n
Key competencies<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in a relevant field (such as Finance, Economics, or Accounting etc
\n\tSignificant experience in pricing, commercial management, or financial modelling (5 years and above).
\n\tStrong track record of pricing complex bids for institutional or public sector clients
\n\tDeep understanding of cost structures, margin management, and commercial risk
\n\tAdvanced analytical capability, including scenario and sensitivity modelling
\n\tProven ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge assumptions constructively
\n\tExperience in international development or humanitarian sectors
\n\tExperience working in multi-country or matrixed environments
\n\tFluent in English (Written and spoken)<\/p>\n
