Job Objective<\/p>\n
We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking, industry-connected, and student-centric academic leader to lead teaching for student success and with entrepreneurial acumen to foster research and innovation ecosystems. The ideal candidate has a demonstrable capability to bridge academia and industry and can leverage industry insights to create and implement market-driven curricula. They are an administrative expert with excellent people leadership skills and are adaptable to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and collaborative working environment.<\/p>\n
Duties and responsibilities<\/p>\n
Reporting to the Dean \u00a0School of Education, Arts, and Social Sciences, the position holder will be responsible for:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tOverseeing curriculum development and review, ensuring relevance to industry needs for high graduate employability.\u00a0
\n\tProcessing students’ admissions, receiving and orienting them.\u00a0
\n\tMaintenance of quality standards by overseeing all teaching and examination processes in the department.\u00a0
\n\tTimely resolutions of students and staff concerns.\u00a0
\n\tPeople management, including performance, work attendance, leave, and discipline management, among others. \u00a0
\n\tEstablishing and maintaining high-value industry, academia, and research partnerships and collaborative networks.\u00a0
\n\tSpearheading Research and Innovation.\u00a0
\n\tDesigning and executing the departmental growth strategy.\u00a0
\n\tAny other duties that may be assigned.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualification and experience<\/p>\n
\tPhD, Masters and Bachelor degree specialising in any of these areas: Hospitality Studies, International Relations, Media Studies, Communication Studies or any area related to the mentioned specialisations from an accredited university.\u00a0
\n\tAt least three years of teaching experience at the university level and at least a year\u0092s proven management and administrative experience. \u00a0
\n\tHas published and attended and\/or contributed in academic conferences, seminars, and workshops.\u00a0
\n\tA visionary with the agility to lead the School to stay relevant in the rapidly changing industry landscapes.\u00a0
\n\tDemonstrable skills as a strategic leader who bridges academia and industry, focusing on sustainable growth and market-driven educational value.\u00a0
\n\tIs up-to-date with industry standards and has established noteworthy linkages with the industry.\u00a0
\n\tHas firm commitment to the sustainability of their school.\u00a0
\n\tMembership to a relevant professional body.<\/p>\n
