Role purpose<\/p>\n
\tWorking under the guidance of a Specialist, BI Developer and the broader global TDIT team, the role holder will support the building, implementation, and maintenance of Business Intelligence solutions within the organization. This is an entry level role designed to develop technical skills and knowledge in BI development. The role holder will assist in translating business requirements into BI solutions, learning best practices and contributing to continuous improvement of data and reporting capabilities.<\/p>\n

Principal Accountabilities<\/p>\n
\tSupport the development and maintenance of Business Intelligence solutions under the guidance of senior BI Developers, following agreed design patterns and best practices.
\n\tAssist in the analysis of BI systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and reporting findings to the senior team.
\n\tCollaborate with team members and business stakeholders to understand analytic requirements, documenting these clearly for review.
\n\tComplete assigned development tasks within agreed timeframes and in alignment with project delivery methodologies, seeking guidance where needed.
\n\tContribute to the preparation and delivery of agreed BI services to business functions (e.g. monthly KPI data, reconciliation reports) under supervision.
\n\tSupport the identification and escalation of technical risks and issues related to BI solutions.
\n\tAssist in maintaining and supporting existing BI solutions in alignment with the organisation\u2019s application support ways of working.
\n\tSupport IT Operations tasks related to BI infrastructure elements such as SQL performance monitoring, backup scheduling, and documentation of recovery plans.
\n\tMaintain accurate technical documentation for all assigned work.
\n\tParticipate in proof-of-concept activities to explore new BI approaches and technologies, contributing ideas and learning from outcomes.<\/p>\n
Experience and Skills<\/p>\n
Essential<\/p>\n
\tBasic working knowledge of SQL, including writing simple SELECT queries, filters, and joins (practical experience through study, personal projects, or internships is acceptable).
\n\tFoundational understanding of data concepts such as data modelling, relational databases, and reporting.
\n\tAn interest in Business Intelligence and data analytics, with motivation to develop technical skills in this area.
\n\tEffective communication skills with an ability to listen carefully and ask questions to understand requirements.
\n\tInitiative-taking and eager to learn, with a problem-solving mindset.
\n\tCultural awareness and sensitivity, with an openness to working in a global context.<\/p>\n
Desirable<\/p>\n
\tExposure to Microsoft BI tools such as Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, or SSAS (through coursework, self-study, or hands-on projects).
\n\tBasic familiarity with Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables or Power Query.
\n\tAny exposure to Azure services or cloud-based data tools.
\n\tKnowledge of or interest in the non-profit or international development sector.
\n\tExposure to agile project delivery methods.
\n\tBasic familiarity with JIRA or similar project tracking tools.
\n\tAny introductory experience with Python or R.<\/p>\n
Education and Qualifications\u00a0<\/p>\n
Essential<\/p>\n
\tDemonstrated interest and foundational skills in data and technology are more important that formal education. No specific qualifications are required.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Desirable<\/p>\n
\tDegree or diploma in a computing, information technology, data science, or related field (or currently studying towards one).
\n\tRelevant online certifications (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, SQL fundamentals, Azure fundamentals).
\n\tIntroductory certification in technology methodologies such as agile.
\n\tBasic Programming Knowledge in python or R<\/p>\n
