We are seeking an ambitious, high-performing legal expert for the role of Advocate. This pivotal role requires combining extensive, practical experience across Commercial, Conveyancing, Litigation, and Probate & Succession matters with a proven ability to lead knowledge-sharing initiatives. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of complex client files and concurrently design and deliver rigorous, engaging professional training programs to internal and external audiences, ensuring the firm maintains intellectual credibility and knowledge currency in Kenyan Law.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
The role encompasses a dual mandate in high-level legal practice and knowledge development:<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
I. Legal Practice & Client Advisory<\/p>\n
\tEffectively manage client relationships, conduct meetings, and oversee all aspects of client transactions and matters from initiation to conclusion.
\n\tManage Litigation files, including preparing quality legal pleadings, representing clients in court (as both plaintiffs and defendants), and managing all phases of the judicial process.
\n\tLead negotiations to settle potentially litigious matters and effectively employ Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods, including Arbitration.
\n\tDraft, review, amend, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and documentation, ensuring their due execution and compliance with regulatory requirements.
\n\tProvide sound legal advice and draft authoritative legal opinions across all practice areas.
\n\tHandle high-level Conveyancing processes, including property due diligence, drafting lease agreements, and overseeing matters before the Lands Registry, Survey of Kenya, and National Lands Commission.
\n\tEffect legal formation of corporate entities and advise on corporate transactions.
\n\tConduct thorough, in-depth legal research on case law, statutes, regulations, and judicial opinions to ensure the accuracy and relevance of advice.<\/p>\n
II Knowledge Sharing<\/p>\n
\tDesign, develop, and deliver structured training programmes, interactive workshops, masterclasses, and legal seminars covering the core competency areas.
\n\tDesign comprehensive and practical training materials, including manuals, workbooks, case studies, precedents, and practical exercises.
\n\tKeep all training content current by monitoring and incorporating amendments to Kenyan legislation, recent court judgments, and evolving legal practice standards.
\n\tCollaborate with Partners to drive knowledge-sharing, continuous professional development (CPD), and the firm\u2019s knowledge management strategy.<\/p>\n
Core Competency Areas<\/p>\n
\tCommercial Law:\u00a0Contract drafting and negotiation, corporate transactions, business structuring, commercial dispute resolution, secured lending, and regulatory compliance.
\n\tConveyancing Law:\u00a0Land transactions, leases, searches, land registration under the Land Registration Act 2012, stamp duty, and property due diligence under the Kenyan legal framework.
\n\tLitigation Law (Kenyan Law):\u00a0Civil Litigation procedure (including filing of claims, drafting pleadings, discovery, and pre-trial processes), Commercial Litigation, Constitutional and Public Law Disputes, ELC matters, Employment disputes, enforcement of judgments and decrees, Appellate Advocacy, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
\n\tProbate & Succession:\u00a0Grant of probate and letters of administration, intestate succession under the Law of Succession Act (Cap 160), estate administration, and beneficiary rights.<\/p>\n

Qualifications & Experience<\/p>\n
\tMust possess an LLB Degree from a recognized university.
\n\tMust be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current Practicing Certificate (LSK membership) \u2014\u00a0Mandatory.
\n\tMinimum\u00a07+ years\u2019 post-admission experience\u00a0in a similar, multi-specialty role, preferably within a top-tier law firm.
\n\tDemonstrable experience (minimum 5 years) in legal training, lecturing, CPD facilitation, or mentoring. Previous or current university lecturing experience is highly desirable.
\n\tAn LLM or postgraduate qualification in a relevant legal specialisation will be a significant advantage.
\n\tProven hands-on expertise in the interpretation and application of legal texts, statutes, rules, and regulations.
\n\tWorking knowledge of conveyancing, court rules, and land registry procedures is essential.<\/p>\n
