Senior Human Rights Officer<\/p>\n
\tAs an advisory staff position, you will be responsible to the Chairperson of the Executive Board for all aspects of operational and structural human rights work at Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope.<\/p>\n
Location:\u00a0Nairobi (Kenya) or Uganda ((location to be discussed) or Addis (Ethiopia)
\nWorking hours:\u00a0Full-time (40 hours\/week)
\nContract duration:\u00a0Initially limited to two years, with the option of extension\/permanency<\/p>\n
Your Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Operational Human Rights Work<\/p>\n
\tResearch and analysis of the human rights situation in selected countries
\n\tPreparation of scientific reports and analyses (internal and external)
\n\tConceptualization and implementation of our human rights advocacy work
\n\t(input for public relations and advocacy communication)<\/p>\n
Structural Human Rights Work<\/p>\n
\tEnsuring that key human rights aspects are integrated into the structure of our programmatic project work
\n\tEnsuring that instruments of the human rights-based approach are embedded across all departments and core processes of the organization
\n\tDesigning and conducting trainings for staff and project partners
\n\tDeveloping and strengthening human rights-related monitoring and reflection mechanisms in collaboration with technical departments<\/p>\n
Your Profile<\/p>\n
\tCompleted university degree in social sciences and\/or law, ideally with a specialization in human rights
\n\tAt least three years of relevant professional experience in a human rights-related field (desirable)
\n\tWillingness to take on responsibility
\n\tStrong analytical skills
\n\tEmpathy and sensitivity for the target groups of our work
\n\tExcellent organizational and communication skills
\n\tTrustworthy and reliable personality
\n\tIndependent, goal-oriented, and meticulous working style
\n\tExcellent English language skills, German language skill desirable
\n\tProficient in MS Office applications<\/p>\n
