Role Overview<\/p>\n
We are seeking an Intermediate Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient platforms that support the development, deployment, and operation of applications across the organisation. In this role you will treat our cloud infrastructure as a product and our internal developers as your customers. Your mission is to make the right path the easiest path: building self-service tooling, automated guardrails, and a platform experience that lets engineers move fast without breaking things.You will enable engineering teams by automating infrastructure, optimising CI\/CD pipelines, and ensuring platform reliability and performance. You will play a key role in driving Platform Engineering best practices, improving developer productivity, and fostering operational excellence through infrastructure-as-code and modern tooling.<\/p>\n
What You Will Be Doing<\/p>\n
\tKubernetes & Containerisation: Kubernetes, Istio, ArgoCD, Helm & CI\/CD for containerised workloads.
\n\tMonitoring and Logging: Prometheus, Loki, Grafana & ELK to monitor Kubernetes resources and Java workloads.
\n\tSource Control & CI\/CD: GitHub & GitHub Actions for version control and CI\/CD.
\n\tOperating Systems: Ansible and AWS tooling to manage Unix environments (Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
\n\tBackend Development: Hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying backend services in Java; scripting for ad-hoc problems.
\n\tCloud Infrastructure: AWS\/Cloud services and best practices, including the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
\n\tInfrastructure as Code: AWS CDK & Terraform to write and manage infrastructure.
\n\tArchitecture and Design Patterns: DDD, Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), and distributed computing architecture.
\n\tComputer Networking: Core networking concepts including VPCs, Subnets, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, Peering, PrivateLink, Global Accelerators, and Load Balancing.
\n\tDatabase Management: Relational databases (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL), event pipelining using Apache Kafka.
\n\tInternal Developer Platform: Build and maintain self-service tooling and golden paths that reduce cognitive load for product teams.<\/p>\n
What You Must Have<\/p>\n
\tBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
\n\t4+ years of relevant work experience as a Developer building\/running Java or C# applications.
\n\t2+ years deploying, managing, and rightsizing Kubernetes clusters, resources, and underlying infrastructure.
\n\t2+ years designing and operating public cloud environments.
\n\tExperience using GitOps\/CI-CD workflows for infrastructure as code and Helm workload deployments.
\n\tA product mindset for internal tooling: ability to identify developer pain points and build platform solutions that address them at scale.
\n\tAdvantageous: experience in Agile\/Scrum methodologies and familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.<\/p>\n
