Overview<\/p>\n
\tThe Policy Advocacy Manage\u00a0role\u00a0\u00a0is global\u00a0 ( 75%)\u00a0accountable for developing and implementing specific advocacy strategies and contributing to the development of the global advocacy strategy development, undertaking research and analysis, developing policy advocacy content and tools, providing matrix support to colleagues undertaking policy advocacy in different regions, and providing strategic administrative support to the Director of Policy Advocacy.\u00a015% is dedicated\u00a0to advocacy\u00a0support\u00a0to\u00a0specific\u00a0elements of\u00a0DNDI\u2019s\u00a0African regional\u00a0strategy.\u00a0\u00a0The incumbent is responsible to support\u00a0DNDi\u2019s\u00a0efforts to document lessons learned, engage stakeholders, develop champions, and promote policy actions to advance the adoption of progressive R&D policies to meet the needs of neglected patients.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Specific Job Responsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tUndertake research and analysis \u2212including policy landscape analyses, stakeholders mapping, lessons learned by DNDi, etc. \u2212 and develop policy advocacy content and tools including white papers and policy briefs.\u00a0
\n\tDevelop targeted advocacy strategies to influence policy change\u00a0\u00a0
\n\tContribute to technical analyses of policies and practices\u00a0impacting\u00a0innovation and access to medical tools, and propose\/ prioritize specific actions where DNDi,\u00a0and partners could be influential.\u00a0
\n\tCoordinate specific advocacy activities\/\u00a0campaigns\u00a0engaging\u00a0various stakeholders and\u00a0manage\u00a0projects and events.\u00a0
\n\tProvide matrix support to colleagues undertaking policy advocacy activities in various regions, with a particular\u00a0focus\u00a0(15%) on\u00a0East Africa, African\u00a0Union and\u00a0Africa CDC and\u00a0other DNDI\u00a0departments (e.g.\u00a0\u00a0funders managed\u00a0by External Relations teams)\u00a0
\n\tCollaborate with the Communications teams to help\u00a0develop and disseminate\u00a0policy positions through opinion pieces, social\u00a0media\u00a0and other means.\u00a0
\n\tContribute, through internal communications, to developing internal knowledge and the ability of colleagues to\u00a0represent\u00a0policy positions.\u00a0
\n\tProvide project management support to the\u00a0Policy Advocacy\u00a0Director and team.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Reporting line & Interactions<\/p>\n
\tPolicy Advocacy Manager reports to the Policy Advocacy Director
\n\tSecondary reporting line to the Africa\u00a0Continental Lead & Office Director
\n\tWork with Communication and External Relation teams,\u00a0regional\u00a0offices, and R&D teams at DNDi\u202f\u00a0
\n\tWork extensively with external partners including civil society groups, thinktanks, government representatives,\u00a0multilateral agencies\u2019 experts, and policy\u00a0leads\u00a0in science, research, and public health institutions.\u00a0
\n\tThe position has a representational role through the promotion of policy\u00a0advocacy\u00a0objectives\u00a0and\u00a0maintain\u00a0productive relationships by projecting the image of a credible partner.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience and Education<\/p>\n
\tMinimum 6 years’ relevant experience in which at least 4 years at Senior Officer level
\n\tA track record\u00a0of policy analysis preferably\u00a0in\u00a0 public\u00a0health\u00a0 and\u00a0knowledge of global\u00a0health ,\u00a0development\u00a0or science policy.
\n\tProven experience of developing and implementing successful advocacy strategies and campaigns, including awareness building initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
\n\tExperience in policy advocacy on the Africa continent.\u00a0\u00a0Experience in the East African context a plus.\u00a0
\n\tProven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
\n\tExperience of working in public and private sector is highly desirable
\n\tGraduate degree with equivalent experience to reach\u00a0masters\u00a0level in international relations, public health, public affairs or a related field, or demonstrably equivalent experience through grassroots engagement, preferably with applied work in community,\u00a0national or\u00a0global\u00a0advocacy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
