As Principal : Treasury Operations, you will oversee daily back-office treasury operations across multiple African regions with diverse economic and regulatory environments. You will ensure smooth and timely execution of all treasury-related activities, linking back-office operations with regional teams and external financial institutions.<\/p>\n
What You’ll do:<\/p>\n
Settlement Management & Reconciliation<\/p>\n
\tLiaise with Merchants Operations team to obtain daily settlement amounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and processed on time.
\n\tUpload manual settlements as per settlement files, verify transactions, and ensure bank charges are correctly applied.
\n\tEnsure timely liquidation and reconciliation of funds from alternative payment methods, mobile money platforms, and aggregators.
\n\tSupport settlements across the group, coordinating with internal teams and external financial institutions to ensure accurate merchant transaction settlement.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Liquidity & Cash Flow Management<\/p>\n
\tUpdate and maintain daily cash position files, ensuring all cash balances and outstanding settlements are accurately captured.
\n\tMonitor and manage daily liquidity requirements to ensure sufficient funds for operations and merchant settlements across multiple regions.
\n\tAssist in developing and maintaining merchant liquidity forecasts to meet obligations.
\n\tExecute operational foreign exchange transactions required for settlements and liquidity management.
\n\tOptimize cash flow management, ensuring efficient use of funds without holding excessive idle cash.
\n\tPrepare reports supporting cash flow forecasting and financial planning.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Treasury Operations & Execution<\/p>\n
\tManage back-office treasury functions, including fund transfers, bank account management, and transaction reconciliation.
\n\tImplement and maintain processes to ensure accuracy and compliance in treasury operations.

\u00a0Banking & External Stakeholder Management<\/p>\n
\tAct as the primary contact for banking partners, engaging daily to resolve treasury-related operational issues and maintain seamless financial operations.
\n\tAssist in updating and maintaining bank mandates within the region, ensuring all authorizations align with regulatory and internal compliance requirements.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Governance, Compliance & Risk Management<\/p>\n
\tEnsure compliance with financial policies, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies to strengthen treasury controls.
\n\tOversee documentation and adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Reporting & Financial Analysis<\/p>\n
\tAnalyze and report key treasury metrics to the Head of Treasury Operations.
\n\tPrepare and review treasury reports, including liquidity positions, foreign exchange exposures, and settlement progress.
\n\tMaintain accurate records of client interactions and transactions for audit and compliance purposes.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Process Improvement & Automation<\/p>\n
\tParticipate in treasury-wide process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall operational effectiveness.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Regional & Cross-Functional Collaboration<\/p>\n
\tCollaborate with regional teams to understand local financial regulations and ensure seamless cross-border fund transfers and settlements.
\n\tFoster collaboration between back-office treasury teams and other departments as needed.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Team Support & Development<\/p>\n
\tProvide support and mentorship to treasury analysts and other staff, helping them develop their skills and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in their work.<\/p>\n
What we are looking for:<\/p>\n
\tEducation: Bachelor\u2019s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related \ufb01eld.
\n\tKnowledge of banking, treasury and payments products and processes.
\n\tExperience: 7-10 years of hands-on experience in treasury operations, back-of\ufb01ce processing, or a related \ufb01eld preferably within the \ufb01ntech industry.
\n\tStrong understanding of treasury functions, \ufb01nancial markets, and banking operations.
\n\tFamiliarity with African \ufb01nancial markets and regulatory frameworks.
\n\tThorough knowledge of African currency markets and regulatory frameworks.
\n\tStrong communication skills and an ability to build and leverage cross-functional relationships.
\n\tStrong knowledge of finance and accounting principles within a multi-currency, multi-subsidiary environment.
\n\tAdvanced pro\ufb01ciency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
\n\tExperience with Treasury Management Systems (Kyriba) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software is a plus.
\n\tStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\n\tExcellent attention to detail and accuracy.
\n\tEffective communication and interpersonal skills.
\n\tAbility to work independently and as part of a team.
\n\tProactive, results-oriented, and adaptable to change.<\/p>\n
