DUE DILIGENCE AND INVESTMENT PREPARATION (60%):\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tRespond to inquiries from prospective borrowers; support them to apply for our facility\/investment products.\u00a0
\n\tIntroduce the investment products to entrepreneurs, explaining the requirements for repayment and the seriousness of taking on debt financing.\u00a0
\n\tConducts investment appraisal, collects detailed information (personal, business, and guaranties), and arranges to open a new investment account.\u00a0
\n\tPrepares and executes investment contracts and arrange for disbursement of investment in kind.\u00a0
\n\tConduct due diligence on prospective borrowers, including site visits, document preparation, coordination with the Business Development Advisors and Business Associates, etc.\u00a0
\n\tCommunicate all materials to the Portfolio Manager, and assist in preparing credit reports for Investment Committee meetings.\u00a0
\n\tTake photos of entrepreneurs, have them sign photo waivers, and ensure entrepreneurs\u2019 stories are posted on the Kiva platform for fundraising with all correct information.\u00a0<\/p>\n
PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT (20%)\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tOffer excellent customer service through daily conversations, correspondence, and site visits as needed to maintain strong positive relationships with borrowers.\u00a0
\n\tWork with the Inkomoko Kenya Business Development Services team to ensure borrower success, and Visit clients for monitoring.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain both delinquency and default rates below set rates during yearly goal setting,\u00a0
\n\tTrack information about borrowers and communicate effectively with key stakeholders about client status.\u00a0
\n\tActively participate as a key staff in the weekly Portfolio Review Meeting.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain a tracking system of borrower payments and contact information.\u00a0
\n\tWork with the Finance & Admin team to produce invoices for payments and monthly reconciliation of investment department transactions.\u00a0
\n\tInteract with government leaders, court systems and others for follow up on lack of payments.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure that we are adhering to the requirements of our Kiva partnership, including reporting and journaling.\u00a0

INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (20%)<\/p>\n
\tUpdate both disbursements and investment repayments in the Investment Management System (CBS-powered by mifos)
\n\tMaintain and demonstrate proficiency with investment software applications
\n\tWork with system providers to utilize applications to fullest capacity, streamlining processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance\u00a0
\n\tAssist with system parameters and design to meet the needs of multiple departments.\u00a0
\n\tManage user security access
\n\tEnsure proper segregation of duties, develop and maintain work flows for all stages of investment\u00a0
\n\tAdvise the Management team how to automate key lending processes
\n\tEnsure posting of payment, payoffs, and balancing in Core Banking System
\n\tParticipates in the review and recommendations of operational systems and procedures
\n\tSuccessfully interact with lending staff to improve accuracy and efficiencies of Investment management system\u00a0
\n\tPrepare related reports and administer the system
\n\tOther duties as assigned by supervisor\u00a0<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
Investment officer will be a trusted partner of Inkomoko Kenya clients, and basic qualifications Include:<\/p>\n
\tUniversity degree in Finance or other related field,
\n\tMust speak fluent English and Swahili. Knowledge of local language is a plus,
\n\tExperience in Islamic lending and practice is an added advantage
\n\tStrong financial and accounting skills; familiarity with business financial policies in Kenya
\n\tExperience in investment management, microfinance, capital leases, and access to finance for Micro businesses and SMEs is STRONGLY preferred,
\n\tPrior experience dealing with customers\/debt,
\n\tPrior experience in a lending environment,
\n\tExperience providing business advice to entrepreneurs,
\n\tPrior experience in Investment management system software,\u00a0
\n\tDecisive individuals with ability to deliver unpleasant messages to the debtors and assertive enough to get the debtors pay off the entire debt,
\n\t\u00a0Experience in managing difficult clients and reaching positive outcomes,
\n\tVery strong attention to details and good follow through,
\n\tComfort with the civil court system, and previous experience in litigation preferred,
\n\tUnrelenting perseverance, personal integrity, and critical thinking skills,
\n\t4+ years of work experience in relevant or applicable field,
\n\tMust be able to legally work in Kenya.\u00a0<\/p>\n
