AMI is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Kiswahili Translator to support the accurate and culturally relevant translation of learning and program materials from English to Kiswahili. This role is critical in ensuring that AMI’s content reaches and resonates with Kiswahili-speaking audiences across Africa \u2014 preserving not just the words, but the meaning, tone, and intent behind every resource. The ideal candidate is a language professional who combines linguistic precision with cultural sensitivity, and who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced content environment.<\/p>\n
Roles and responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tTranslation:\u00a0Accurately translate resources, from English to Kiswahili, while preserving the content\u2019s context, style, and tone.
\n\tProofreading:\u00a0Thoroughly edit translated materials to ensure language accuracy and consistency.
\n\tCultural Adaptation:\u00a0Ensure that the translated materials are culturally relevant and appropriate for the intended audience.
\n\tQuality Assurance:\u00a0Perform quality checks on translated content and make necessary revisions to maintain standards of quality.
\n\tCollaboration:\u00a0Effectively collaborate with the content development team and other stakeholders to ensure communication and teamwork.
\n\tTechnology Familiarity:\u00a0Utilize translation software and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in the translation process.
\n\tMeeting Deadlines:\u00a0Effectively prioritize translation assignments to meet project deadlines.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Languages, Communications, or a related field.
\n\t5+ years of Proven experience in professional translation, preferably English \u2194 Kiswahili.
\n\tExcellent command of both English and Kiswahili, with strong grammar, spelling, and editing skills.
\n\tStrong understanding of cultural nuances to ensure accurate and context-sensitive translations.
\n\tDetail-oriented with strong proofreading and quality assurance skills.
\n\tFamiliarity with translation tools, software, and technology to enhance efficiency.
\n\tAbility to work independently while maintaining clear communication with teams and stakeholders.
\n\tStrong time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.<\/p>\n
