JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
\nThe\u00a0Recreation Services Manager\u00a0is responsible for managing and overseeing all morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) programs and activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, customer service expectations, and operational goals. This role includes supervising recreational staff, coordinating events, and maintaining program excellence. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n
\tManaging\u00a0resale operations\u00a0and recreational programs to ensure they meet the needs of the military community on the installation.
\n\tEnsuring compliance with\u00a0CNICINST 1710.3 – Chapter 1, Section 114, which governs the handling and storage of hazardous materials, and maintaining\u00a0current CPR certification\u00a0for all relevant personnel.
\n\tTraining employees in\u00a0customer service standards equivalent to the Navy\u2019s MWR Star Service, Achieving Extraordinary Customer Relations (AECR)\u00a0course.
\n\tBeing\u00a0readily available during regular working hours\u00a0and ensuring availability or that of a designated alternate within\u00a0one hour\u00a0for emergencies or contingencies.
\n\tActing as a\u00a0certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor, providing training to designated personnel as required.
\n\tProficiently officiating sports, including but not limited to\u00a0Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Flag Football, and ensuring the quality and fairness of all MWR-sponsored sports leagues and tournaments.
\n\tOrganizing and promoting diverse recreational events and activities for installation personnel and families, ensuring engagement and participation.
\n\tCollaborating with various stakeholders to maintain and promote MWR programs, enhancing morale and welfare initiatives.
\n\tMonitoring and documenting the use of MWR facilities and services to ensure operational effectiveness and compliance with Navy guidelines.
\n\tOverseeing budgets, financial records, and facility resources to allocate funding and maintain fiscal responsibility.<\/p>\n
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS<\/p>\n
\tA\u00a0four-year degree\u00a0from an accredited college or university with a major study in one or more recreation, sports management, business administration, or a related field.<\/p>\n
\t\tAlternatively,\u00a0three (3) years of general experience\u00a0demonstrating successful knowledge and application of the\u00a0goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation, alongside an understanding of the interests and motivations of individuals and groups.<\/p>\n
\tA\u00a0minimum of five (5) years of specialized experience\u00a0in roles such as an NF-4 with a Non-Appropriated Funds Instrumentality (NAFI) or a middle manager role in a similar civilian operation.
\n\tCertification or ability to become a\u00a0certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Instructor.
\n\tProficiency in officiating sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Flag Football.
\n\tCompletion of, or willingness to achieve,\u00a0MWR Star Service, AECR training certification.
\n\tCurrent CPR certification\u00a0or the ability to obtain such certification prior to hire.
\n\tHigh school diploma or equivalent.
\n\tStrong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple programs and provide effective oversight of recreational staff.
\n\tMust be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.<\/p>\n
\t\tPassport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.<\/p>\n
\tAbility to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.<\/p>\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS<\/p>\n
\tMaster\u2019s degree or advanced education in Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field.
\n\tPrevious experience managing large-scale recreational activities in military or civilian facilities.
\n\tKnowledge of Navy MWR program standards and operational mandates.
\n\tFamiliarity with recreational program management in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environments, particularly in a multi-national workforce setting.
\n\tExceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n
