Le Grenier \u00e0 Pain was imagined and created by Michel Galloyer in 1998, and has over 30 branches from Paris to Tokyo. For the first time in Africa, Le Grenier \u00e0 Pain has four outlets in Nairobi, Kenya.\u00a0
\n\tThe Company is looking a Chief Steward responsible for overseeing all stewarding operations to ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, food preparation areas, and dining support facilities. The role supervises the stewarding team, ensures compliance with health and safety standards, and supports efficient food and beverage operations.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
Stewarding Operations<\/p>\n
\tSupervise and coordinate the activities of stewards and cleaning personnel.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to established standards.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor the cleanliness of kitchens, stores, waste disposal areas, and food preparation areas.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure adequate supply of cleaning materials and stewarding equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hygiene and Food Safety<\/p>\n
\tEnforce compliance with food safety, sanitation, and occupational health standards.\u00a0
\n\tConduct regular inspections of kitchen and stewarding areas.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure proper waste management and disposal procedures are followed.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain high standards of cleanliness to meet regulatory and company requirements. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Inventory and Asset Management<\/p>\n
\tMaintain records of kitchen equipment, utensils, and cleaning supplies.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor breakages, losses, and damages and recommend corrective action.\u00a0
\n\tConduct periodic stock counts of stewarding supplies and equipment.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure proper storage and handling of equipment and cleaning chemicals.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Team Leadership<\/p>\n
\tSchedule, supervise, and evaluate stewarding staff.\u00a0
\n\tTrain staff on cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and safe handling of equipment.\u00a0
\n\tMonitor employee attendance, discipline, and performance.\u00a0
\n\tFoster teamwork and adherence to company policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0Safety and Compliance<\/p>\n
\tReport maintenance issues and equipment faults promptly.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)<\/p>\n
\tMaintain 100% compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards.\u00a0
\n\tEnsure timely availability of clean utensils and equipment during service hours.\u00a0
\n\tMaintain accurate inventory records of stewarding supplies and equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Qualifications and Experience<\/p>\n
\tCertificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food Production, Housekeeping, or related field.\u00a0
\n\tMinimum 3\u20135 years’ experience in stewarding operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.\u00a0
\n\tKnowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.\u00a0
\n\tExperience in hotels, restaurants, bakeries, catering services, or food manufacturing environments is an added advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
