Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) is a Statutory body created by an Act of Parliament No. 9 of 2019 with the mandate to regulate medicines and allied substances, pharmacy businesses and the practice of pharmacy in Malawi.In a bid to strengthen human resource capacity in delivering this mandate, the Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced persons of Malawi origin to fill various positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe. The following are the details of the vacant positions: \u2013JOB TITLE: SENIOR INTERNAL AUDIT & RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICERGrade: PMRA 4
\nLocation: Head Office
\nResponsible to: Functionally \u2013 Board of Directors Administratively \u2013 Director GeneralJob PurposeTo lead in the review, evaluation and enforcement of Authority\u2019s accounting, operational and other internal control systems and the application of policies.Key Roles and Responsibilities1. Identify activities subject to audit coverage, evaluate their significance, and assess the degree of risk inherent in the activity in terms of cost, schedule and quality
\n2. Evaluate risk management systems
\n3. Prepare comprehensive audit plan covering all areas of activity based on assessed risks
\n4. Monitor and enforce compliance with internal control systems and regulatory requirements
\n5. Provide audit and risk assessment reports to management and the Board
\n6. Improve audit and risk management activities and programmes based on previous audit work
\n7. Manage audit and risk management activities in line with budgeted resources
\n8. Enforce audit standards for improved performance
\n9. Review and evaluate the resource control systems
\n10. Investigate cases of fraud in the Authority
\n11. Prepare and control implementation of departmental budget
\n12. Coordinate and support external auditsMinimum Qualifications and ExperienceA Bachelor\u2019s Degree in either Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting)A professional qualification in accountingMust be a member of IAA3 years\u2019 experience in auditing\/accounting at officer levelAbility to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and reportsPerson SpecificationsProfessionalism and positive attitude.Good communication skillsPrescribes and believes in the Code of Ethics for Internal Auditors.An ability to work under minimum supervision.Knowledge of current professional auditing standards, procedures and reporting requirementKnowledge of operating systems and related risks and controls as well as audit techniques for computer applicationsMethod of ApplicationInterested candidates should submit a written and signed application letter, certified copies of academic and professional qualifications and Curriculum Vitae, with three (3) traceable referees by 26th July, 2025 to:The Director General
