{"id":2926,"date":"2025-07-10T22:02:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T22:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/malawi\/job\/qualitative-research-assistant\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T00:49:27","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T00:49:27","slug":"qualitative-research-assistant","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobs.dataaxisnode.com\/malawi\/?post_type=job_listing&p=2926","title":{"rendered":"Qualitative Research Assistant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MAC- COMMUNICABLE DISEASES ACTION CENTRE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT\u00a0QUALITATIVE RESEARCH ASSISTANTMAC-CDAC is a research unit under the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences that works with Ministry of health, local and international health agencies to address priority health problems in Malawi and the SADC region through operational and evidence synthesis research, capacity building and training, health care systems strengthening, disease surveillance, and monitoring and impact evaluation in communicable diseases including malaria, HIV, vaccine preventable diseases and Neglected tropical diseases.MAC-CDAC is inviting applications from suitably qualified and enthusiastic individuals to fill the position of\u00a0Qualitative Research Assistant.\u00a0With funding from the British Academy through the University of Edinburgh, the project will examine historical and ethnographic research to enhance the understanding and improvement of population health data.Position summaryThe Qualitative Research Assistant will carry out duties to support the archival, oral history, and ethnographic methods employed by the Principal Investigator.Duration of ContractThe initial contract will be for ten (10) months with possibility for further extension based on performance and availability of funding.Reporting Line: The Qualitative Research Assistant will be reporting to the Principal Investigator.Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to:To identify and collate primary data, literature, reports, publications, and other related sources associated with Demographic Health Survey (DHS), and to analyse this data.Gather source material to compile the Malawi data regarding DHS literature, reports, and publications.Transcribe, translate, and contribute to team-based qualitative data analysisPreparing research-related field notes, reports and presentations.Generating and properly keeping all research documentation, transcripts, and records, including consent forms.Perform any other study-related duties as assigned by the PI.\u00a0Required professional qualifications, competencies and work experienceAppropriate degree in a field relevant to the social sciences (medical anthropology, anthropology, sociology) and\/or public health.Ability to spend extended time in communities\u2014whether through NGOs, public health outreach, or participatory approaches.Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement across the community, government, and academic sectors, and manage logistics for workshops, webinars, and mentorship sessions.Ability to contribute to the production of high-quality transcriptions and write-ups.Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.RemunerationRemuneration will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as applicable to staff in the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences.
