An established insurance broker in Mauritius, is looking to strengthen its Finance team and is currently looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to join us.
Job Purpose:To support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate finances, disciplined budgeting, strong controls, and full compliance as well as oversees financial operations, leads finance staff, manages assigned budgets, and supports key decisions, risk management, and organisational performance.The role also requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, such as the Finance Manager, Senior Management, Department Heads, HR, Operations and Compliance as well as build and maintain strong working relationships with external partners, including auditors, financial institutions, regulatory authorities, insurers, and service providers.Main dutiesFinancial Reporting & ControlsOversee the integrity of accounting records, general ledger, and financial schedules.Review and validate monthly management accounts, reconciliations, and journals prior to submission.Monitor financial risks and recommend mitigation measures.Budgeting & Financial PerformanceCoordinate the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.Own and manage designated operational budget lines, monitoring expenditure against approved budgets.Analyse variances and prepare management reports.Recommend cost-control and efficiency measures.Statutory & Regulatory ComplianceOversee statutory submissions ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Act as key liaison with auditors, regulators and external stakeholders on accounting and compliance matters.Cash Flow OversightMonitor cash flow forecasts, identify risks and liquidity positions and escalate concerns promptly.Validate payment runs and authorisations supporting documentation complies with approval and control requirements.Team Supervision & DevelopmentSupervise designated finance staff and allocate workloads, quality standards and deadlines are met.Provide coaching and technical guidance.Support staff development and succession planning.Financial Advisory & Continuous ImprovementProvide professional financial advice and insights to management and department heads.Lead process improvement initiatives.Participate in system upgrades and finance projects.
