Role Overview

The Assistant Pastry Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation, baking, and presentation of pastries and desserts, while maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency in the pastry section.
 
Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation and baking of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency.Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the pastry section.Assist with mise en place for daily service and events.Ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished products.Wash, sanitize, and maintain pastry tools, equipment, and workstations.Monitor stock levels and report shortages of pastry ingredients to the Executive Chef.Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.Support the pastry team during peak hours and special events.Assist in decorating and presenting desserts according to hotel standards.Learn and implement new techniques under guidance from the Pastry Chef.Help with inventory checks and rotation of perishable ingredients.Adhere to hotel grooming, safety, and professional conduct standards.Perform any other duties assigned by the Executive Chef or Pastry Chef.Qualifications & ExperienceBasic pastry training is preferred.Previous experience in a pastry or kitchen environment is an advantage.Skills & CompetenciesWillingness to learn and take instructions carefully.Attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.Basic knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards.
