Production Engineer

Responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality and safety, and reduce operating costs.
 
The key responsibilities and tasks:Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operationsAssist with shop floor layout and cell designsPerform time/work study on production floorDesign fixtures and tooling for assembly tasksGather data and prepare production reports on time (daily, weekly, monthly)Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructionsOversee installation of machinery and equipmentImprove manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layoutRemove waste from the processesContribute, support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activitiesCarry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvementsPoka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errorsInvestigate production and process issues providing technical support and trainingKeep up with current and developing engineering trendsUndertake special projects as requiredPlan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presentedManage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), write reports and present progress at meetingsUndertake continuous training and developmentPerform root cause analysis and resolve problemsSkills and Attributes:Assertive, resilient and welcomes changeEngages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working togetherIs optimistic and self-awareShows moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealingsSelf-motivated, flexible, proactive and committedGood communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent Attention to detailUnderstanding manufacturing processesUnderstanding engineering, scientific and other technical informationStrong problem-solving skills and logical approachUnderstand lean manufacturingPlanning and prioritizing activitiesAbility to present data effectivelyUnderstanding of Health and Safety practiceQualifications and Experience Levels:Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Mechanical and/or IndustrialAbility to use CAD software (3D software will be a plus)Ability to design processes and layoutsExperience of LEAN Manufacturing (FMEA, Kaizen/A3, Poka Yoke, and other lean tools) and putting in practiceMinimum 3 years work experience in a high volume manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
