Job Description

An Executive level post, reporting to the Business and Commercial Bank CRO sitting on the Executive Committee, to lead and strategically manage the risk governance, assurance, and secretariat function for BCB Risk ensuring compliance to Group Standards and Policies as well as aligning to best practices relating to applicable legislative and regulatory matters across all risk types for BCB present in South Africa, African Region and Standard Bank Offshore operations. BCB’s business spans 16 countries/jurisdictions across the African continent.
Whilst the role is based in SA, given BCB being orientated on a Globally Organised and Regional Executed basis, the successful Executive will be responsible for the risk governance and assurance across the footprint ensuring that there is complete alignment consistency in execution.  
Strategically define key relationship interactions with the business, regulators and stakeholders to guide and monitor governance and assurance operations clearly. The role entails engagement up to C-suite level across the BCB business.
The incumbent will lead a direct team of 5 whilst having indirect responsibility for the Governance teams in each of the jurisdiction.
Extensive country visits are an inherent requirement for successfully executing on the role.

Experience Required

All Risk types

At least 10 years in a Governance and assurance role. Experience in Credit Risk, NFR, Country Risk and business support and resolution. Strong commercial business understanding and experience. Experience in dealing in SA, AR and International markets.
