Key Performance Areas

Strategy Formulation Level

Formulation of the coherent and integrated Group strategy in alignment with all the relevant business units and together with executive management
Manage and coordinate the strategic plans and strategic initiatives whilst ensuring the portfolio of strategic initiatives is accepted
Review key strategic priorities and translate them into actionable and tangible plans
Support business and advise on strategic and operational plans

Strategic Insights

Perform environmental scanning in the complex changing landscape
Prepare reports to provide recommendations and relevant strategic support information

Strategic & Business Planning Process

Embed strategic planning practice across the Group and Board
Facilitate and manage the annual strategic planning process across the Group
Drive the communication of the strategy and plan to the rest of the business
Reviewing strategic objectives continuously
Oversee benchmarking & scenario planning exercises for trend analysis (e.g. ANSTO, etc.)
Manage the business planning and operational planning across the Group

Performance Monitoring & Evaluation

Ensure setting of the overall Group strategy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Track and monitor of the overall Group strategy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Oversee the execution of integrated planning, evaluation and reporting processes in order to ensure that strategic objectives are met
Monitor performance goals against KPIs in order to ensure that strategic objectives are met
Monitor the implementation of strategic initiatives across the group
Integrate information for reporting on a monthly, quarterly and on an annual basis

Reporting

Compile and review on a monthly basis, quarterly & annual reports to comply with statutory requirements – according to PFMA schedule
Compile reports (internal & external information) and make recommendations for business strategic choices
Ensure translation and alignment of the group strategy and corporate plan to the subsidiaries’ corporate plan and operational plans.
Review market-facing entities’ strategies, corporate plans, and business plans and integrating the aforementioned plans into one group strategy & one corporate plan.

Strategic Risk

Align approved strategic initiatives to strategic objectives, and integrate risk mitigation associated with approved strategic objectives
Proactively establish and manage healthy diverse stakeholder relations in pursuing achievement of organizational goals

Business Process Improvement & Productivity

Accountable for coordinating and driving the function of the Strategic Return to Service (SRTS) Plan across all four project pillars and the sub-projects contained
Lead teams and workflow projects across broad technical, regulatory and business disciplines.
Focus teams on business objectives and track progress to ensure project milestones are completed on time, on budget and with the desired results.
Mitigate risk factors through careful analysis of data.
Anticipate and manage change effectively in a complex business environment.
Core problem identification, resolution & business trend analysis

Financial Management

Responsible for planning, compiling, managing and reconciling departmental budget, and justification for additional funding requests
Responsible for Budget and financial control for the department including income generation

People Management

Oversee that employees receive training, thereby motivating and directing employees to optimize workplace productivity and promote professional growth
Train, supervise and manage staff in project management environment incl. coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in business management or related (NQF 7)
Minimum 15 years’ experience in corporate and business planning environment of which 5 years must be in a senior management role
