Job Description

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to   develop this “mine of the future”.

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

Grade 12
Diploma in Mine Surveying or equivalent.
Advanced skills in the use of mine survey software
Have report writing and articulation of work skills
Statutory survey requirements
Survey relevant legislation
Highly computer literate

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

5 years’ mine surveying experience, with experience in mine survey roles in underground mine surveying
At least 2 years’ experience on a fully mechanised underground operation.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

Capturing and compiling data in accordance with the required standards and facilitating the drafting of Mine Plans.
Completing End of Month Surveys on site and assisting with the reporting requirements
Maintaining the site survey equipment in good working order and regularly updating software and firmware
Maintaining a high standard data control system
Providing field support for exploration, and other project-type activities
Participates in “safety talk” sessions as assigned at the beginning of each working day
Adheres to the company HSE rules and procedures throughout the working day, and undertakes necessary maintenance remedial action in accordance with laid down company rules
Reports any HSE incidents to relevant authorities immediately, and provides evidence of incidents witnessed, during investigations
Carries out housekeeping in area of responsibility to ensure a safe and secure work environment
Implements action items arising from HSE audits by taking corrective actions on identified deviations
Enforcement of Company Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working environment
