Key Performance Areas
Plant Operations/Manufacturing:
Operate the plant in line with approved work instructions, guidelines and procedures.
Monitor process trends and SPC data to ensure the production process is within operating parameters and correct if required.
Allocate and manage resources and coordinate activities to meet production schedules.

Ensure staff operate the plant according to approved work instructions.
Ensure effective housekeeping
Monitor the effective usage of utilities
Monitor stock levels to ensure that the inventory is kept up to date and suitable for meeting production targets and goals as agreed on.
Coordinating production morning meetings.
Ensure BSC are in place and evaluated as per requirement.
Participate in the non-routine risk assessment tasks with SHEQ stakeholders.
Control critical raw material ratios to ensure profitability of products.
Oversee quality assurance on all raw material and final products.
Financial management and Budgeting
Submit annual budget and obtain approval.
Apply appropriate financial controls to ensure expenditure levels are prudent, and wastage is limited.
Plant Control:
Ensure at least one job observation on work instructions are done monthly.
Review and update work instructions.
Generate operations report per shift worked and communicate effectively to relevant parties. Plant readings and checklist as required.
Ensure plant control samples as per schedule are executed.
Report all defects to the necessary discipline using the COSWIN system and prescribed documentation.
Compliance with SHEQ requirements
Ensure hazardous work permits are in place as required in the workplace.
Ensure PPE is in a good condition and correctly worn in the workplace.
Execute PPE inspections according to procedure monthly.
Ensure specialized PPE are stored according to requirements
Report sub-standard equipment and safety issues.
Ensure the adherence of statutory training for his team are up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Grade 12 – Maths and Physical Science
OR
N3 with Maths and Physical Science
OR
NCV Level 4 Maths and Physical Science
Driver’s license
8 to 10 years in 24-hour chemical plant operations would be an advantage for this position.
