The Mechanical Technician  within the LI Secunda organisation provides technical support to the Air Liquide primary production and maintenance managers, engineers and foremen with respect to information gathering, data accumulation, basic processing and reporting.

Main Accountabilities

Apply basic Air Liquide technical specifications, work procedures and work instructions in area of responsibility
Perform tasks in accordance with basic Engineering principles and conduct basic plant troubleshooting 
Managing Loss of Containment incidents (repairs, modifications, projects, and Leakseals)
Participating in Plant Renewal Projects, including scoping, material procurement, Process Risk Assessments (PRAs), and execution
Executing pump modifications and conducting pump Turnarounds (TARs) and attending to FAT for new or refurbed pumps at the OEM’s
Participate in failure/root cause analysis and recommend basic suggestions for improvement
Maintain reliability, integrity and availability of plant equipment
Developing Quality Control Plans (QCPs) for Plant equipment with the help of SME (e.g Artisans, foremen or QC’s) 
Apply MOC knowledge and procedures and participate in punch out teams
Ensure effective and efficient communication with internal and external stakeholders
Assisting with the coordination of on-site maintenance activities when external contractors are utilized
Front-End Loading and execution for scheduled Turnarounds (TARs) as per the derived scope.
Development of roadmaps for plant equipment renewals and replacements 
Addressing Statutory Equipment compliance, delays and inspections 
Participate and provide support in small project implementation and management 
Align to the ALLISA Safety and Health strategy to achieve zero harm, notify and take action to mitigate risks identified during project planning and execution

Educational requirements

National Diploma in Engineering / B.Tech in Engineering (advantageous)

Experience

Five (5) year practical experience in an operational environment

Knowledge and Know-how specific to the job

Must have knowledge and understanding of the Engineering discipline principles and design 
Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of Engineering drawings interpretation
Must have knowledge and understanding of Project Management
Must have knowledge and understanding of Maximo, Navision, CMMS and the Google suite of products
