MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A senior Certificate (Grade 12 Matric)
A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.
Must be a qualified Installation or Maintenance Electrician (Light Current).

ADVANTAGEOUS:

Training in generator and or UPS Certifications.
Knowledge of SANS 10142 electrical installation standards.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordination

Coordinate maintenance activities and ensure resources are available to perform assigned work.
Interpret site requirements relating to planned maintenance, fault finding, and repair activities.
Liaise with the E&M Manager to confirm requirements against work orders and maintenance schedules.
Communicate with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure correct tools, components, and materials are issued.
Verify that equipment and materials received correspond with the incident ticket or maintenance request.
Coordinate with other technicians during team-based maintenance operations.
Providing structured updates to business stakeholders during high-priority or operations-impacting incidents.
Translating technical system failures into business impact language.
Supporting cross-functional integration initiatives and system upgrades.

Planned Preventative Maintenance & Cleaning

Visit technical shelters and infrastructure sites according to maintenance schedules.
Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and tidying tasks according to maintenance checklists.
Inspect all electrical, mechanical, and civil/building components.
Identify defects, abnormal readings, or potential failures.
Record findings and implement corrective measures where possible.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Fault Finding and Repairs

Diagnose faults affecting technical shelters, power supply infrastructure, and mechanical systems.

Rectify faults including:

Minor civil repairs
Corrosion protection and paint touch-ups
Replacement of lighting equipment
Reporting faults on mechanical components such as roller shutter doors.

Perform fault finding within electrical installations, including:

Isolation of electrical circuits
Replacement of defective components
Cable stripping, cleaning, jointing, and termination
Perform repairs with strict adherence to electrical safety procedures for live environments.
Test and confirm functionality of repaired or replaced components.
Communicate equipment readiness to resume operations.
Escalating risks before service impact becomes critical.

Monitoring, Incident Management and Service Desk Support

Log maintenance incidents and service requests with the Service Desk.
Escalate complex faults to the Facilities Supervisor or relevant technical teams.
Record unresolved issues in the Gantry Inspection Sheet or relevant maintenance documentation.
Provide feedback on recurring faults or infrastructure risks.

Information Recording, Reporting & Documentation

Complete Technical Shelter Inspection Checklists and related documentation.
Record equipment readings, faults, actions taken, and observations during inspections.

Maintain accurate records of:

Electrical readings (mains voltage, UPS output current, generator readings).
Mechanical equipment performance.
Infrastructure defects or abnormalities.
Submit completed reports to the Facilities Supervisor for review and processing.
Capture unresolved issues in the Service Desk system.
Ensure maintenance documentation is audit-ready and compliant with internal control requirements.
Support internal and external audits by providing relevant maintenance documentation and operational records.
