The role:

Create and maintain statutory mine plans and operational mine plans to ensure safe execution of mining and processing as determined by the Mine and Health Safety Act. Be an administering aid to the survey section for general office administration.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Responsible to create and maintain all statutory mine plans stipulated by the Mine Health and Safety Act, other acts applicable to mining, Code of Practices and SOPs approved by the mine

Plans to maintain, plot and distribute includes:

Annually submit statutory plans to DMR
Monthly updates of Traffic Management Plans
Monthly updates of Hazard Plan
Monthly updates of Rehabilitation Plans for mine closure
Quarterly updates of Ventilation and Rescue Plan for underground operations
As required by customers – Water Management Plans
Quarterly update of Statutory Plans stipulated by MHSA
Daily creation of ad hoc plans requested by production, engineering or processing
Monthly General Section Plans of production areas required for safe mining as applicable for the specific operation
Area of Responsibility plans required for legal appointment letters
Placing of orders for resourcing of survey equipment and filing of signed off receipts of survey notes
Responsible to assist Survey Manager & Section Surveyor in identifying and notifying operations and engineering regarding mining restrictions imposed by the MHSA for protection of features that needs protection

Requirements:

Chamber of Mines Certificate in Draughting
Diploma (CAD) plus demonstrated competency in operating a GIS
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Draughtsperson / Junior Surveyor
Member of the GIS fraternity & membership of IMSSA
In depth knowledge of design standards
Knowledge of prescriptions of statutory plans in MHSA
Experience and knowledge to convert sketches in working drawings
Experience in CAD / MicroStation software
Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
Valid driver’s license
In possession of or able to obtain a valid certificate of fitness

Advantageous:

Transferring CAD data from survey records onto required mine and statutory plans
