AltGen is looking for a skilled Accountant to join a renewable energy company based in Stellenbosch for a 6-month contract. The role will take full accounting function of the Operations and Maintenance section of the Group and support and assist the Finance Team on the remaining companies in the Group as needed. The role will entail that you get a clear understanding of the accounting on the Investments, Operations and Maintenance side of the business.

Responsibilities
Business section: Operations and Maintenance

Invoicing of all Operations and Maintenance fees (internal, external and OTC’s).
Monthly recons, e.g. to check if the cost of sales incurred was invoiced out.
Monitoring of contract increase and expiry dates to ensure effectiveness and timely application and renewal.
Managing SIM card function for O&M assets.
Calculate and prepare VAT return.
Assist with the annual Budget for the company.

Business section: Investments Group

Debtors follow-up, checks and analysis.
Review VAT calculations and returns before submission.
Pull the weekly payment files.
Review and approve monthly rooftop invoices and update reconciliation.
Liaise with PKF on VAT audits, submit information and follow up on progress.
Liaise with Investec for new credit cards or any changes to current cards.
Opening of bank accounts and maintenance of accounts.
Prepare annual audit files and respond to auditors’ queries.
Assist with checking of monthly Livewires before invoicing is done.
Assist Team with questions on recons, loans, journals, invoicing and VAT.
Review and approve weekly payments.
Income Tax, VAT and EMP registrations for new companies and administration on current profiles.
Assist with annual income tax returns completion and submission.
Assist with the review of the annual Financial Statements.

Adhoc

Assist the Investments Finance Team with ad hoc tasks as needed.
Assist the CFO with ad hoc tasks.
Assist the Financial Manager with ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

Bachelor of Commerce Accounting
AGA or CA membership with SAICA
3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience
Proficient in MS Excel and comfortable with financial systems
Willing to take on a 6-month contract
