Description

Apply the correct product solutions by understanding product specifications, defining client requirements, assessing site conditions, and consulting with technical experts to optimize blasting performance.
Oversee charging and blasting operations by reviewing blast plans, drilling patterns, hole depths, explosive requirements, and initiation sequences to ensure safe and effective execution.
Conduct pre-blast inspections by identifying hazards, clearing the site of unauthorized personnel, positioning blast guards, supervising explosive loading, and initiating blasts as per approved plans.
Manage the safe drawing of explosives from the magazine by verifying permits, confirming explosive types and quantities, handling materials correctly, and using approved containers and equipment in line with regulations.
Execute safe explosives transport by using designated vehicles, complying with transport and security regulations, and ensuring explosives are properly secured and stabilised.
Inspect post-blast sites by assessing safety, identifying misfires or hazards, evaluating fragmentation and environmental impacts, engaging with the blasting crew, and documenting findings with actionable recommendations.
Contribute to process improvement by identifying inefficiencies, presenting recommendations to the line manager, and supporting proposals with relevant information.
Implement SHE practices by understanding required actions, executing them within defined timelines, and reviewing implementation in line with standard procedures.
Maintain strong stakeholder relationships by engaging internal and external parties, sharing input and feedback, and collaborating to achieve shared objectives.
Contribute to team effectiveness by actively participating in team activities, identifying support needs, and offering assistance as part of daily collaboration.

Requirements

Matric / Grade 12 or Equivalent
Blasting Certificate
Driver’s license
Explosives Management qualification
3+ years’ Blasting experience
