Job Purpose
To provide corrective technical maintenance support to the customer during the warranty period and ensure performance targets are achieved in line with customer requirements. Guide and assist the customer on corrective maintenance after the warranty period.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
Collaborate and support the Engineering Department in analyzing train-related technical problems and faults and propose effective maintenance solutions.
Guide and support the customer (e.g., Drivers and the technical fleet management) in resolving emergencies that arise during service operations.
Support the customer in corrective maintenance execution by:
Coaching and training the customer on the maintenance procedures, as outlined in the contractual agreement.
Prepare trains for service through functional testing and applying train diagnostic methods, tools, and resources (e.g., Condition-Based Fault Monitoring (CFM), on-board computerised equipment, working manuals, troubleshooting guide and train system expertise.
Report all the defects identified during commercial services to facilitate the creation of service orders for defect resolution.
Maintenance Execution
Troubleshoot and repair the Gibela Rolling Stock, in compliance with specified quality procedures and standards.
Perform manual tasks and when required, work on powered up trains while strictly adhering to safety precautions and controls.
Comply with Health, Safety and Quality procedures as specified by legislation and the company’s Health and Safety policies.
Perform functional testing of the train to ensure readiness for service. Apply diagnostics tools, onboard computerised equipment, working manuals, troubleshooting guides and train system expertise to resolve root causes and defects.
Conduct high speed testing and deploy trains to other depots as required.
Attend regular team briefings to report on progress, address issues and highlight challenges encountered during the shift.
Report accidents or incidents on a going basis.
Drive company vehicles when required and applicable.
Train and mentor new team members.
Assist the Reliability team and the Field Engineer to understand the root causes of complex failures.
Update the Service Execution System (SES) upon task completion.
Minimum Requirements
Diploma in Electrical, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
1 – 3 Years Maintenance and technical engineering experience preferably in the rail industry e.g. testing, use of tools and schematics.
2 Years troubleshooting experience.
Special Requirements
Incumbent will be required to perform tasks at heights.
Incumbent will be required to work overtime and shifts.
Incumbent may be required to travel occasionally
