Desired experience and qualifications:

BPharm or equivalent degree in Pharmacy
Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience working as a pharmacist in a retail, hospital, or industrial pharmacy setting.
Experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
Legal & Regulatory Knowledge
Sound knowledge of South African pharmacy laws and regulations, including:
Medicines and Related Substances Act
Pharmacy Act
Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) guidelines
Understanding of controlled medicines (Schedules 4–6) compliance requirements

Key Duties and responsibilities will include:

Accept overall legal responsibility and accountability for the operation of the pharmacy
Implement, maintain, and monitor Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards
Supervise and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacist assistants, and support staff
Ensure the safe procurement, storage, handling, and distribution of medicines
Maintain effective stock control systems, including monitoring expiry dates and preventing stock losses
Ensure secure handling of scheduled medicines (e.g. Schedule 5 and 6) in accordance with legal requirements
Maintain accurate and complete records and documentation as required by law
Oversee the dispensing process to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance
Ensure the pharmacy operates within its registered scope of practice
Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Ensure training and competency of all pharmacy personnel
Be physically present at the pharmacy for the required minimum time as per regulations
