We are seeking an experienced Site Agent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and coordination of civil engineering projects or sections of multidisciplinary contracts, with a focus on roads, earthworks and related infrastructure. Reporting to the Senior Site Agent / Contracts Manager, the role provides site leadership, operational coordination and technical input to ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget and in full compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
Plan, manage and execute civil construction works in accordance with approved programmes, drawings and specifications.
Develop, monitor and update construction programmes, including short-term and look-ahead planning (CCS an/or MS Projects).
Lead and coordinate daily site operations across engineers, foremen, subcontractors, plant, materials and safety functions.
Oversee civil works including earthworks, layerworks, roads, stormwater, services and associated infrastructure.
Translate drawings and specifications into practical work plans, construction sequences and site execution strategies.
Monitor production outputs, plant utilisation and resource efficiency, addressing constraints and delays proactively.
Ensure implementation of method statements, risk assessments, QA/QC procedures and quality control systems.
Manage labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to achieve productivity, cost and quality objectives.
Monitor site costs, track progress and support accurate reporting, forecasting and cost control processes.
Support the Quantity Surveyor with measurements, variation claims and commercial reporting.
Ensure compliance with construction legislation, OHSA, environmental requirements and contract conditions (GCC/FIDIC/JBCC).
Implement environmental management plans and ensure sustainability compliance on site.
Support tendering and work acquisition through site feedback, constructability input and lessons learned.
Facilitate stakeholder and community engagement, including CLO coordination and public interface where required.
Support SMME development and integration in line with project and contractual requirements.
Manage project close-out, including snagging, handover, QA documentation and final accounts support.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
5–8 years’ experience managing construction projects or contracts.
Proven experience on civil infrastructure projects, including roads, earthworks and services.
Experience working on multidisciplinary construction projects.
Strong background in site execution, subcontractor management and contract compliance.
Added Advantages:
Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
Professional registration as a PrCM (Professional Construction Manager) with SACPCMP or strong progress towards registration.
Experience working under GCC, NEC, FIDIC or JBCC
Sound knowledge of COLTO, COTO, SANRAL and SANS
Experience with digital construction tools such as MS Projects, GPS, Total Station and mobile QA/QC platforms.
Exposure to labour-intensive public-sector projects and SMME development initiatives.
