Ship Surveys and Inspections:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tUndertake all Statutory Surveys, Audits, and Inspections in accordance with applicable legislation and other relevant regulations relating to Marine Pollution Prevention and Safety. \u00a0
\n\tGive effect to our obligation under the Instruments relevant to the III Code (Tonnage, COLREGS, Load line, SOLAS,MARPOL)<\/p>\n
Examinations and Accreditations:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tGive full and complete effect to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 in accordance with the provisions of section A-I\/8 of the STCW Code,whereby all training, assessment of competence, certification, including medical certification, endorsement and revalidation activities are carried out, by applying appropriate domestic legislation. Comply with the Quality Standards System of SAMSA to ensure alignment with STCW.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Legislation Regulations and Policy:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tReview, recommend and contribute towards drafting maritime regulations and amendments.\u00a0
\n\tReview and Draft Marine Notices and Marine Circulars.
\n\tReview, recommend and Draft SAMSA Policies and Procedures.\u00a0
\n\tParticipate in ad hoc projects as and when required in line with level of responsibilities.<\/p>\n
Casualty\/Incident Investigations:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tUndertake casualty \/ incident investigations.
\n\tProduce reports and make recommendations timeously.
\n\tFulfil an expert witness role in a Marine Court of Enquiry.
\n\tStakeholder Management: Provide consultancy services to Industry Stakeholders.\u00a0
\n\tParticipate in and report on local, regional, and international fora and make recommendations.
\n\tManage and engage with Stakeholders in accordance with SAMSA Core Values.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
\tChief Engineer > 3000kW (no limitation) COC \/ or Master COC (Unlimited)
\n\tSTCW ancillary courses and any other equivalent training
\n\tSailed in rank of Second Engineer (seagoing experience) \/ or sailed in rank of Chief Officer (seagoing experience)
\n\tSTCW Compliant COC – Chief Engineer >3000 kW (STCW III\/2 \u2013 no limitation) \/ or STCW Compliant COC \u2013 Master (STCW II\/2 \u2013 no limitation)
\n\tSTCW ancillary courses
\n\tSailed in rank of Chief Engineer (seagoing experience) \/ or sailed in rank of Master (seagoing experience)
\n\tMaritime\/Sea going experience for a period of 2-3 years in a management role.
\n\tDriver\u2019s License
\n\tOwn Transport
\n\tPreferred Medical Clearance Certificate \u2013 obtained from a SAMSA approved medical practitioner.
\n\tAbility to travel as and when required.
\n\tValid Passport<\/p>\n
