Safety Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>Health &amp; Safety<\/p>\n<p>\tDevelop all necessary systems and documents for the site.<br \/>\n\tEnsure all Contractors comply with the requirements to be onboarded.<br \/>\n\tTo ensure full compliance of the Safety pack requirements for which a permission to work will be issued.<br \/>\n\tAssist the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Site Engineer and the Client with compliance with all requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the OHS Act.<br \/>\n\tEnsure all Contractors comply with the minimum Sasol Safety File requirements to be onboarded and work permits to be issued.<br \/>\n\tAssist the Project Engineer with all regulatory requirements of the Mines, Health and Safety Act and OHS Act.<br \/>\n\tCreate a positive HSE culture on site, working with the Contractors to achieve zero harm<br \/>\n\tImplement GIBB and Client HSE policies, plans and procedures and ensure Contractor policies, plans and procedures meet or exceed the requirements.<br \/>\n\tEnsure cooperation and coordinate contractors on site<br \/>\n\tParticipate in design review\/ change meetings to ensure H&amp;S aspects of design changes are adequately considered by the various design teams<br \/>\n\tUndertake daily site inspections and weekly site walks with the Sasol representatives<br \/>\n\tConduct regular joint Contractor and Subcontractor inspections of the sites, including assessment of the daily \u2018toolbox\u2019 talks in terms of content relative to the tasks at hand<br \/>\n\tChair monthly H&amp;S meetings with Contractors, ensuring accurate meeting minutes are recorded<br \/>\n\tFacilitate monthly H&amp;S Agent audits and aligned with requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act and OHS Act and ensure findings are closed out as soon as reasonably practicable<br \/>\n\tMonitor all construction works and ensure compliance with site permits, relevant legislation, contractual requirements, and industry best practices<br \/>\n\tAssist with the inputs and approval of method statements and job safety risk assessments (Job Safety Analysis)<br \/>\n\tEnsure that all equipment coming to site complies to Sasol\u2019s requirements prior to being inspected by Sasol representatives<br \/>\n\tEnsure that equipment daily inspections are carried out by operators prior to such equipment being used on site<br \/>\n\tEnsure plant operators are in possession of valid competency certificates for the plant to be operated<br \/>\n\tEnsure site inductions are developed, implemented, reviewed, and updated<br \/>\n\tEnsure all Contractors are operating in accordance with relevant permit to work requirements (e.g. excavation, hot works etc)<br \/>\n\tMaintain HSE risk registers for the site<br \/>\n\tLead incident and accident investigations<br \/>\n\tTrack and analyse non-conformances, near misses, and incidents on the project and ensure suitable resolution by the Contractors<br \/>\n\tMaintain accurate and up to date safety statistics per construction Contractor and for the project<br \/>\n\tShare lessons learned with the wider project team and internal stakeholders<br \/>\n\tMonitor condition and availability of safety equipment (e.g. PPE)<br \/>\n\tCoordinate the issue of PPE to internal project staff<br \/>\n\tReview and update relevant Project HSE documents arising from changes to standards, codes, and legislation<br \/>\n\tLiaising with the relevant emergency services during the development and implementation of the emergency preparedness\/ response plan for each project within the projects being executed.<br \/>\n\tEnsure all legally required appointments are in place and up to date<br \/>\n\tReview HSE training requirements for GIBB Mining employees working on the projects<br \/>\n\tReview site specific Risk assessments and method statements<br \/>\n\tApprove Contractors HSE files prior to contractor\u2019s work commencing on site<br \/>\n\tReview all Contractors Risk assessments and method statements prior to activities commencing<br \/>\n\tAdvise Project and Site Managers of HSE concerns and resolutions<br \/>\n\tAttend all weekly construction meetings,<br \/>\n\tEnsure all access control measures to the site are diligently applied and enforced<br \/>\n\tEnsure occupational health surveillance is carried out to comply with appropriate regulations.<br \/>\n\tEnsure First aid equipment requirements are suitable and sufficient.<br \/>\n\tEnsure fire safety requirements are suitable and sufficient.<br \/>\n\tIdentify and implement health and wellbeing initiatives and improvements.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Environmental<\/p>\n<p>\tSupport the Project Manager, Construction Manager and Appointed Engineer and contractors to ensure compliance with the relevant environmental legislation, contractual requirements and industry best practices<br \/>\n\tSupervise HSE function of contractors and all consultants on site.<br \/>\n\tComply with the Client\u2019s Environmental requirements.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Document management<\/p>\n<p>\tPrepare any health and safety related method statements or documents that cannot be sourced from Sasol and are required in respect of environmental authorisation\/ EMPr conditions to be discharged prior to construction or the application for the Construction Work Permit<br \/>\n\tOversee and manage site generated HSE documentation.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Communication<\/p>\n<p>\tEffectively communicate company values and objectives on site.<br \/>\n\tInitiate and manage site safety awareness campaigns.<br \/>\n\tObtain regular Safety communication from the Client for distribution and communication.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting<\/p>\n<p>\tEnsure all incidents, near misses and general statistics are recorded on the Corporate system and ensure their investigation and close out<br \/>\n\tPrepare monthly reports analysing incident statistics, proposing action plans to address trends, and describing HSE activities for the preceding month<br \/>\n\tPrepare monthly safety topics and interventions to ensure the culture of safety is maintained throughout the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Quality<\/p>\n<p>\tOversee construction HSE processes<br \/>\n\tRaise, investigate and resolve any HSE NCRs observed by the project teams including the HSE team, ensuring all HSE NCRs are issued to the relevant contractors.<br \/>\n\tEnsure all HSE issues related to site designs are correctly implemented and that designer\u2019s risk registers accompany drawings issued for construction on site.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Planning<\/p>\n<p>\tAssess the compliance of potential contractors\u2019 HSE systems with Sasol requirements at tender stage<br \/>\n\tSupport the Construction Manager and project team to ensure key project milestones like Cold and Hot Commissioning are met safely and timely.<\/p>\n<p>Job Requirements<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>\tMinimum qualification equivalent to NQF Level 6 in the HSE field<br \/>\n\tCompulsory registration with SACPCMP as HSE Manager<br \/>\n\tMine, Health and Safety Act knowledge\/experience is essential<\/p>\n<p>Certified training in:<\/p>\n<p>\tHazard Identification &amp; Risk Assessment<br \/>\n\tIncident Investigations<br \/>\n\tLegal Liability<br \/>\n\tValid driver\u2019s license<br \/>\n\tNEBOSH International
