Purpose of the role:<\/p>\n
\tTo carry out driving duties in a safe and efficient manner and achieve timely collections and deliveries to customers<\/p>\n
The job responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tEnsure integrity of cargo by securing the vehicle at all times.
\n\tOperate within the law regarding to, speed limits, and ensure all legal documents are adhered to.
\n\tEnsure all company documents relating to the loads are fully completed in line with internal procedures.
\n\tAssist with the loading and off loading, handling and labelling of freight as required.
\n\tCompletes all documentation and manifests required to indicate proper delivery and receipt of goods.
\n\tSecures loads and assures loads are within vehicles weight limits.
\n\tEnsures good customer relations by consistently delivery orders on time.
\n\tUtilise a vehicle inspection check sheet, inspect truck for defects before and after operations.
\n\tTurns in vehicle inspection sheet daily to supervisor and reports any defects.
\n\tCompletes driver log or trip report in accordance with regulations.
\n\tMaintain knowledge of highway conditions and commercial driving safety regulations.
\n\tTransports and deliver products in accordance with the routing schedules developed by management.
\n\tOperates truck in difficult delivery situations such as congested city streets and passageways.
\n\tMaintain current driving licenses and medical certificates required to operate assigned vehicle.
\n\tEnsure compliance with routing and scheduling.
\n\tBe involved in the physical checking of goods at collection and delivery points.
\n\tRefuel,check oil and water levels and carry out vehicle safety checks daily.
\n\tReport all defects in writing to the supervisor.
\n\tAct in a responsible and courteous manner at customers delivery points.
\n\tOperate the overhead crane to load and offload the vehicle.<\/p>\n
Qualifications & Experience Requirements<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12
\n\tValid driver’s license and public drivers permit (PDP)\u00a0
\n\t2 years’ past driving experience
\n\tOther Requirements & Competencies<\/p>\n
Must be flexible<\/p>\n
\tSound judgement ability
