Description<\/p>\n
\tThis role is responsible for supervising and coordinating civil maintenance activities on-site. The role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The incumbent will oversee workers, subcontractors, and materials while maintaining quality standards and safety regulations.<\/p>\n
Requirements
\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:<\/p>\n
\tGrade 12
\n\tN3 Certificate in Civil Engineering
\n\tFundamentals of Project Management certification (an added advantage)
\n\tMinimum 3 years working experience in construction site supervision
\n\tExperience with plant, facilities, and equipment maintenance in a Grain Silo (advantageous)
\n\tStrong knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and safety regulations<\/p>\n
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS<\/p>\n
\tManage and oversee the internal civil team and contractors, ensuring efficient work execution. Assign tasks and monitor progress according to project schedules.
\n\tEnsure effective communication with silo management and uphold quality control procedures.
\n\tManage and monitor contractors to ensure quality work, inspections, and sign-offs.
\n\tMaintain accurate record-keeping and reporting on projects, manage contracts with external vendors, and ensure projects are executed within the approved budget.
\n\tAdhere to safe working standards in accordance with the OHS Act.
\n\tExecute work to prevent incidents that can cause damage to persons or property. Enforce and ensure compliance with safety standards at all silos in the work area.
\n\tConduct site inspections and resolve issues promptly to minimise safety incidents.
\n\tMaintain daily site reports, attendance records, and progress updates.
\n\tEnsure accurate record-keeping and provide weekly feedback on projects.
\n\tReport progress and problems to management, conform to AFGRI BBBEE status requirements, and ensure qualified, competent, and motivated staff.
\n\tOversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
\n\tCoordinate with subcontractors and ensure all materials and resources are used efficiently.
\n\tAddress on-site issues and implement solutions promptly. Motivate and guide employees to maintain productivity and efficiency.
\n\tProvide procedural and fair disciplinary actions to address deviations.
\n\tEnsure a qualified, competent, and motivated workforce.
\n\tEncourage continuous improvement and skill development within the team.
\n\tProvide training and support to enhance team performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.<\/p>\n
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES<\/p>\n
\tExcellent civil and general facility maintenance knowledge
\n\tWorking knowledge of the OHS Act
\n\tBasic project management skills (an added advantage)
\n\tMaintenance-specific administration and record-keeping experience
\n\tProficiency in MS Office Suite
\n\tExcellent verbal and written communication skills
\n\tWorking knowledge of Rail and Safety Regulations
\n\tAbility to read and understand building blueprints and technical drawings<\/p>\n
