\tGrade 12
\n\t2 years\u2019 experience in a similar role
\n\t2 years\u2019 experience in a Chemical storage\/manufacturing plant
\n\tValid Basic Fire Fighting
\n\tValid First Aid Training

JOB SPECIFICATION:<\/p>\n
\tMonitor all activities related to confined space work under the relevant legislation
\n\tIdentify confined space and their hazards and adhere to the proper entry procedures required
\n\tBe prepared to respond to unsafe or emergency situations
\n\tConduct gas testing activities, hazard identification and risk assessments
\n\tMonitor all hazardous and \u201chot work\u201d areas that may require gas testing
\n\tIdentify hazards and be prepared to respond to unsafe hazardous situations
\n\tStop operations if any hazardous conditions are detected
\n\tMaintain the conditions and requirements stated on the Permit to work
\n\tMaintain constant visual and voice contact with other employees
\n\tInspect the entire work area and look for potential release of flammable vapours or liquids
\n\tOperate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors and hose carts
\n\tKeep flammable materials from ignition sources
\n\tAssist with Leak Detection and Repair program.
\n\tExtinguish fires immediately or turn on the fire alarm
\n\tBe familiar with the exact location of firefighting equipment in the immediate area
\n\tEnsure the work area is free of hot sparks, embers and other fire hazards when operation is done
\n\tEnsure that emergency equipment is returned to the correct place after use.
\n\tApply first aid techniques where applicable.<\/p>\n
