Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\tModerate question papers, internal continuous assessment tasks (ICASS), integrated summative assessment Tasks (ISAT), contribute to the finalisation of marking guidelines, verify marking of answer scripts and attend to the marking concession requests;
\n\tEnsure that setting and internal moderation processes of question papers and ISATs are fair, reliable and valid;
\n\tEnsure that question papers, ISATs, internal assessments and marking are of the required standard \u2013 in line with policy and subject assessment guidelines (SAGs);
\n\tEnsure that ISATs and ICASS are implemented effectively and efficiently;
\n\tProvide feedback and qualitative reports to Umalusi and the assessment body\/sites on the implementation of the ICASS and ISAT;\u00a0
\n\tEnsure that the Marking guidelines and assessment tools are of the required standard;
\n\tSubmit reports to Umalusi on the quality of question papers, marking, integrated summative assessment tasks and internal assessment;
\n\tProvide feedback on the quality of the assessment system and make recommendations on how the assessment system can be improved; and
\n\tTo give support to examiners, markers, internal moderators and educators.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
To be considered as an External Moderator the applicants must:\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tHave relevant qualification in education at a bachelor\u2019s degree level or equivalent in the subject or related subject applied for;\u00a0
\n\tHave at least 10 years of education, training and assessment experience in the subject or related subject at TVET or FET College, University, the University of Technology, Correctional Services Centre, DHET region, training centres and Industry;
\n\tHave experience in the marking of national examinations;
\n\tHave experience as an examiner and\/ or internal moderator of the subject or related subject at the national level or University;
\n\tHave thorough knowledge and understanding of the South African education landscape and TVET sector;
\n\tHave advanced computer skills;\u00a0
\n\tHave good communication and writing skills
\n\tHave the ability to plan and conduct moderation and\/ or verification without direct supervision;\u00a0
\n\tHave the ability to provide appropriate and necessary support, advice and guidance to examiners\/ assessors and internal moderators;\u00a0
\n\tHave knowledge of the applicable curriculum and related policy and guideline documents is essential;\u00a0
\n\tThe ability and expertise in analysing policy and other relevant assessment documents will be an added advantage;
\n\tBe willing to travel and drive to the assessment centres to fulfil assigned moderation;\u00a0
\n\tBe willing to attend compulsory annual training sessions; and\u00a0
\n\tHave a valid driver\u2019s license\u00a0<\/p>\n
