Key Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Accounts Receivable (Credit Collection):<\/p>\n
\tMonitor outstanding customer balances and follow up regularly to ensure timely payment.
\n\tCommunicate with clients regarding overdue accounts and escalate unresolved cases.
\n\tAllocate receipts accurately to customer accounts and reconcile statements.
\n\tPrepare aging reports and provide insights on credit risk and collection performance.
\n\tSupport internal sales teams with debtor account queries and credit limit management.<\/p>\n
Accounts Payable:<\/p>\n
\tProcess supplier invoices and verify supporting documentation.
\n\tReconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies proactively.
\n\tEnsure all payments are made within agreed payment terms.
\n\tMaintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions.
\n\tPrepare weekly\/monthly payment runs and cash flow projections.<\/p>\n
General Ledger & Month-End Processes:<\/p>\n
\tPost journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and inter-company adjustments.
\n\tReconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and balance sheet items monthly.
\n\tAssist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
\n\tSupport year-end closing processes and liaise with external auditors as required.<\/p>\n
Taxation & Compliance in collaboration with an external accounting firm:<\/p>\n
\tPrepare and submit VAT, PAYE, UIF, and other statutory returns in accordance with SARS regulations.
\n\tMaintain tax schedules and support annual income tax computations.
\n\tEnsure compliance with local accounting standards (IFRS for SMEs or full IFRS) and internal controls.<\/p>\n
Reporting & Analysis:<\/p>\n
\tProvide timely financial reports and analysis for management decision-making.
\n\tMonitor and report on key financial metrics including collections, cash flow, and cost variances.<\/p>\n
Other Duties:<\/p>\n
\tMaintain up-to-date documentation and filing of financial records.
\n\tSupport internal and external audits by providing required schedules and information.
\n\tRecommend and implement process improvements within the finance function.
\n\tCollaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. procurement, operations) to resolve financial issues.<\/p>\n
Requirements
\nQualifications & Experience:<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n\tMinimum 10 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in retail.
\n\tExperience in credit control, stock control, and supplier management is preferred.
\n\tProficiency in accounting software.
\n\tKnowledge of South African tax and financial regulations.
\n\tStrong MS Excel skills.<\/p>\n
Requirements:<\/p>\n
\tDegree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
\n\tRecognized professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
\n\tMinimum 5 years\u2019 experience in financial analysis or commercial finance.
\n\tDemonstrable expertise in building and interrogating financial models.
\n\tAdvanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI (or similar BI tools).
\n\tProven track record of developing automated reporting processes and dashboards.<\/p>\n
