Requirements<\/p>\n
\tCarry out field work, which includes collecting soil samples from different environments with the use of a hand soil auger.
\n\tConducting soil surveys, including identification of different soil forms using South African and Food and Agriculture Organization Soil Classification Systems.
\n\tConduct Soil, Land Use and Capability Baseline and Impact Assessments.
\n\tAgro-ecosystem assessments and Agricultural Compliance Statement.
\n\tAgricultural Feasibility Studies.
\n\tConduct Land Contamination Assessments.
\n\tInterpreting results of samples from a laboratory and making fertilizer recommendations.
\n\tResponsible for compiling proposals and reports.
\n\tWriting detailed scientific reports as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and\/ or as standalone projects.
\n\tProviding input and advice on land management solutions, capabilities and limitations.
\n\tTopsoil volume calculations, erosion potential calculations, soil monitoring and management for rehabilitation.
\n\tSoil and land management plans as part of biodiversity offsets and integrated land management plans according to IFC PS.<\/p>\n
Qualifications<\/p>\n
\tA BSc in Soil Science, Honours would be preferred.
\n\tDriver\u2019s license is required,
\n\tThe candidate must have a valid passport and be willing to travel locally and internationally, where needed, as part of field work programmes.
\n\tPersonality requirements include being able to handle pressure and meet deadlines, exceptional quality of work, logic and scientific thinking, accuracy and good error detection, professionalism, enthusiasm to learn, and develop in a dynamic environment is vital.
\n\tGood verbal skills (In addition to written).
\n\tThe candidate must be physically fit and capable of performing fieldwork in remote or rugged terrain under various weather conditions<\/p>\n
Work Experience<\/p>\n
\t3-6 years\u2019 experience in a similar role.
\n\tExperience in wetlands and hydropedology will be an advantage
\n\tPreferably experience within a consultancy environment.<\/p>\n
