Qualifications and experience<\/p>\n
\tBachelor\u2019s Degree in Electrical\/Electronics\/Information Engineering
\n\tMinimum 3 years\u2019 experience in electricity smart meter rollout within municipal distribution environment
\n\tKnowledge of the electricity distribution industry
\n\tICT and systems engineering knowledge
\n\tKnowledge in Project Management (PMI)
\n\tKnowledge of electrical South African engineering standards, good practices, policy and regulations.<\/p>\n
Job Requirements (Technical)<\/p>\n
\tHave an extensive understanding of electricity smart technology and advanced metering infrastructure.
\n\tExperience working with Municipalities and understanding of municipal electricity distribution business
\n\tProject Monitoring, evaluation and verification
\n\tHave an understanding of back-office management systems and metering, communications and control protocols technologies.
\n\tHave strong computer skills, using appropriate electrical modelling software applications, mastery of all applications of the MS Office Suite package.<\/p>\n
Responsibilities\u00a0<\/p>\n
\tThe Smart Metering Technical Engineer shall be responsible for the planning and implementation of project monitoring, evaluation and verification\u00a0
\n\tDevelopment and implementation of smart metering solutions, including hardware and software configurations, whilst ensuring all systems meet regulatory and operational requirements\u00a0
\n\tOverall management of field workers to ensure timely and accurate reporting are delivered to the PMU.\u00a0
\n\tDay to day tracking of meter installations\u00a0
\n\tMonitoring of live status reports in the PMU back office\u00a0
\n\tConduct tests on smart meters and related systems to ensure functionality and accuracy. Diagnose issues and provide effective solution\u00a0
\n\tPreparation and presentation of status reports to the PMU, National Treasury and other key project stakeholders\u00a0
\n\tAnalyse data from smart meters for performance monitoring, reporting and optimisation of energy consumption\u00a0
\n\tDevelop self and other team members through training, and sharing of experiences in the area of technical expertise and understanding of succession planning to promote team growth.\u00a0
\n\tOversee the installation audit and verification process for installed smart meters in municipalities in compliance with the NT requirements\u00a0
\n\tReport on stakeholder engagement and maintain stakeholder relationships\u00a0
