\tEcowize is looking for a highly driven, hands-on Area Manager to oversee and drive hygiene, sanitation, and biosecurity cleaning operations at a key client site with specific focus on the abattoir.
\n\tThis is a fully operational, boots-on-the-floor role requiring a strong leader with experience in ISO-compliant environments, team management, and continuous improvement.
\n\tYou\u2019ll be the on-site champion of compliance, efficiency, and high standards\u2014ensuring that sanitation operations align with Ecowize\u2019s commitment to safety, partnerships, integrity and service excellence.<\/p>\n
Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\tLead sanitation teams to deliver consistent, high-quality cleaning in compliance with Ecowize Site Specific Operating Procedures (SSOPs), client SLAs, and regulatory standards.
\n\tEnsure daily, deep clean, and preventative sanitation operations are executed safely and effectively.
\n\tImplement and maintain HACCP, ISO 22000 and internal audit requirements.
\n\tDrive and enforce strict biosecurity measures, including personnel entry control, decontamination, and livestock area protocols.
\n\tConduct site inspections, risk assessments, and microbiological verification activities.
\n\tChampion continuous improvement through Lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Gemba) and problem-solving sessions.
\n\tDrive cross-functional problem-solving initiatives and lead continuous improvement projects to reduce downtime, improve performance metrics, and minimise waste.
\n\tCollaborate with engineering, maintenance, and compliance teams to streamline operations and reduce operational bottlenecks.
\n\tBuild and maintain a strong safety culture \u2013 facilitate toolbox talks, report near-misses, and ensure correct PPE usage.
\n\tManage labour efficiency, resource utilisation, chemical application, and stock control.
\n\tLiaise with client site management, Ecowize regional leadership, and internal compliance teams.
\n\tCollaborate with engineering, maintenance, and compliance teams to streamline operations and reduce operational bottlenecks.<\/p>\n
Requirements<\/p>\n
What We\u2019re Looking For:\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience:<\/p>\n
\tExperience in hygiene, sanitation, or operations leadership within meat processing or abattoir environments.
\n\tProven experience in ISO-compliant environments (especially ISO 22000 and ISO 9001).
\n\tStrong understanding of biosecurity principles in animal processing settings.
\n\tDemonstrated track record of leading frontline teams under pressure.
\n\tExperience applying Lean or continuous improvement methodologies (advantageous).<\/p>\n
Skills & Attributes:<\/p>\n

\n\tExcellent communication and team management skills.

Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\tMatric (minimum requirement)
\n\tNational Diploma or Degree in Operations, Environmental Health, Food Safety, or related field (advantageous)
\n\tHACCP Certification (advantageous).
\n\tLean\/Six Sigma (preferred).
\n\tValid driver\u2019s license and own reliable transport.<\/p>\n
